"Darry is a long way from here, you know, he can't posibly rule both"
Said Walder with a candid smile. "Martyn is a year younger than me"
He chuckles. "Glad to know I'm a man grown now. I guess I'm not a cub or kit now, but a lion or a weasel, depending on which angle you chose to look at me"
Red Walder scratches the point of his nose. "A man grown could rule Darry, indeed." Aye, that he can not. We may need to propose a successor for him to that lordship. I know he will focus on the Westerlands above all.Lucion would see to that as his prime supporter. The Westerlands needed a ruler who could revive their prosperity. Martyn may need a small regency to ensure he is prepared, but it would not be a lengthy one like under Tommen or Myrcella. We are comparing a few years to a decade. The Lannister remarks, weighing his empty hands slightly like a scale. Another year or so before you are knighted, Walder. A full knight. The male rubs his chin slightly. Where do you see your future lying, Walder? The Rivers or the Rocks?

"Wherever I have a castle, can fly my quartered arms and don't hang from the end of a rope"
Said the young man.
"Aegon the Dragonbane dismissed his regents at six-and-ten years of age, ser. If the maesters taught me well enough"
He inspects his nails.
"So... likely, in a year or two Martyn could rule. If he's to be Lord of the Rock"
Walder grimaces.
"A shame my own blood is watered down, not wholly a lion am I, else this conversation would be different, because Lord Tytos is my grandfather as much as is Martyn's. But, maybe being half of it is good enough in certain instances"

Lucion watches his young ward calmly.
The reputation of Martyn's father helps. Kevan was a good Lannister... if only he had lived longer.
A murder that was still uncertain as to who did it. Some whispered Aegon, others whispered Stannis, there were even whispers of the High Septon and even Cersei.
If he were still alive, there would be no doubt that he would be ruling the Westerlands. Kevan was truly the right hand of Tywin. Leaving that subject behind, he looks at Walder.
We should situate you with a good marriage and see lands granted to you, cousin. I know your mother would want that.
The Lannister rises from behind his table and walks over to a map of the Westerlands. His hand touches the fabric as Lucion inspects it.
Your Frey relatives are too numerous. You'd likely be fighting tooth and nail for lands in the Riverlands if they remain on top.
Lucion taps his chin slightly, continuing his inspection of the map.
Hmmm... there are still lands to build castles upon in the West. Ser Selmy was once offered a grant of land north of Lannisport. Clegane's Keep remains unoccupied.
His eyes slowly look over to the East.
Darry would require a bit of an extension... we could run into Stannis when he marches South. I hear Hardstone has made it his lair.

"Aye, a good marriage, indeed. There're many widows and many bachelorettes thanks to all these years of war. Quite a few are related to me, I believe, like cousin Janei"He scratches his chin, pensive. "My kindred? I've heard my cousin Edwyn died, so likely Black Walder will soon be ruling the Twins. He will probably claim half the ladies in the castle as his"Frey chuckles. "A kennelmaster's tower and a sorry patch of land near to our inbred cousins? Sounds wonderful. Totally"He rolls his eyes, ironical. "Hand me Darry. Even if it's wet parchment, currently, I will be able to broker a better match for myself if I'm Lord Walder, not just Red Walder the Whelp Who Lives in the Rock; that isn't atractive for prospective brides to be"

The Frey had more ambition than his father. Say I do grant you Darry, Walder, which gives you a better position for a good match. The Lannister inquires. Would you fight for Martyn? For his claim over the Rock? After all, if it were to be granted, it would have to be by Martyn's decision. His warden asks. Walder had been squired, for some time, and had the chance to become a potentially good knight.

We will need to force the issue of the succession before Darry can be fully granted. However, an agreement can be written. The Lannister states. Full knighthood as a gesture of good faith and you swearing your sword to Martyn's cause as per the agreement. The full reward for his success: the transfer of the deed of the Lordship of Darry to you, Walder. In the mean time, you will still be recognized as its lawful heir, by Martyn, and be allowed to call yourself Lord Walder of Darry.

Tywin is certainly rolling in his grave for what's happening...The Lannister says, rubbing his neck slightly. A raven arrived bearing word of Tommen's return for land and a reward from that Waters pirate. Much of the Westerlands refuse to bend the knee to the demands of some pirate lord. Tommen is too easy to control and they are done with children as leaders of our house. My father, Damion, is putting up a strong front for Myrcella though.

After all, from what I learned, Aegon the Dragon seems inclined toward Myrcella. Likely because of the snake queen whispering in his ear.The Lannister viewed her support of Cersei's daughter as a means to takeover the West. A means to finally redeem the deeds done against her family before. Who knows if Stannis will support his claim. The Baratheon King seems to not like Tommen nor Myrcella after all.He felt he could not move unless someone accepted Martyn's claim. Otherwise, it would be seen as more a coup than a lawful move. We must be careful. We have strong support in the Westerlands, but if we are viewed as usurpers, by our actions, Martyn's claim could be at risk.Lucion asks, knowing that Damion would be suspicious if he was anywhere near those gates.

If Cersei had popped a dark-haired whelp out her loins we wouldn't have this discussion, but she and Jaime were our cousins both, even if Tywin pretended not to know few others did"
Including Genna. "If... If Stannis gets rid of Myrcella and her claim, whatever that might be... maybe your Martyn wants to throw his lot for the Baratheon. I mean, the Mountain suposedly smashed the man who currently sits on the throne's skull -how did he survive that?- on uncle Tywin's command, I find it doubtful he'd be agreeable to us Lannister-blooded. But... a Baratheon is quite different"He leans forward. "What if... see, when Edmure was jailed here, uncle Ed as I used to call him, I befriended him, he's a nice fellow. Now Tully is with Stannis. Maybe, just maybe, myself as Lord Darry could go to see my uncle Edmure and this Stannis Baratheon and see what would they think of Martyn as Lord of the Rock"

Upon seeing the Rock, the immense formation that dominated the coast, north of Lannisport, Ser Massey would see a great army gathered a couple miles away due East. The banners of Lannister and many other houses were seen from the distance. The army must have been what Lord Gawen mentioned as the place were Ser Lucion likely was. As Justin approached, the sentries of the encampment ordered him to halt. When he identified himself, one of the sentries headed for Lucion's tent. "Well, well..."Walder looked pensive for a moment. Edmure would certainly make Stannis know that we aren't all bad and that may allow us the means to enter in Baratheon's support. The Lannister nods his head a few times, thinking further on it. Martyn is no Tywin and nor was Kevan a Tywin. The Westermen nods in agreement. A sound idea, Walder. I think we should definitely consider that as an option once you are knighted and granted the Lordship of Darry's deed. Before more could be said, a sentry burst into the tent. When Lucion made an inquiry, the sentry stated that a Ser Justin Massey had come to speak with him. An emissary? But from whom? It took Lucion a moment to recall the name! Justin Massey was once a squire in the service of Robert Baratheon and was known to have fought under Stannis! Lucion orders the sentry to bring Ser Massey to him. He turns to Walder. The Seven favor Martyn it seems.

"And it would cover our flank, think about it, not having to trouble about the road to the Rivers, no Robb burning our homes again"He lately felt that he had to state the obvious, but his mind gained speed and he realized many would have a hard time catching up. "I cannot wait for that moment, handsome lordship"And Walder turns to Massey. "Merry coincidence"
