Casterly Rock Casterly Rock, nicknamed the Rock, is a castle and the seat of House Lannister. The capital of the westerlands, it is on the ocean road and overlooks the harbor of Lannisport and the Sunset Sea. Nearby strongholds include Kayce and Feastfires to the west, Sarsfield to the north, and Cornfield and Clegane's Keep to the south. Casterly Rock is carved out of a great stone hill colossal rock beside the Sunset Sea. It is popularly believed to resemble a lion in repose at sunset. The Casterlys of antiquity built a ringfort on the peak, and as millenia have passed its natural defenses have been expanded with walls, gates, and watchtowers. The base of the Rock contains large sea-carved caverns. The stone has been mined for thousands of years, so there are hundreds of mineshafts in the depths of the Rock, as well as yet untouched gold veins. The Rock has been measured at three times the height of the Wall or the Hightower of Oldtown. It is almost two leagues long from west to east, and contains tunnels, dungeons, storerooms, barracks, halls, stables, stairways, courtyards, balconies, and gardens. In the bowels of the Rock are rooms where caged lions were once kept, and cells for the worst prisoners. The castle contains a sept. The Lion's Mouth, the main entry to Casterly Rock, is an enormous natural cavern reaching two hundred feet high. Its steps are now wide enough for twenty riders. Its port has docks, wharves, and shipyards and is accessible by longships and cogs. From below the Rock thunder can be heard, where the sea comes in. The Golden Gallery contains treasures of the Lannisters, including gilded ornaments and walls. The Hall of Heroes is where the Lannisters and their close kin who have died valiantly are interred. The armor of Lannisters of old are also displayed in the hall. The Stone Garden is a godswood in a cave within the Rock. It contains a twisted weirwood, a tenth the size of Raventree Hall's, whose tangled roots have almost filled the cave, choking out all other growth. One of the first things Edmure did when he arrived at Casterly Rock was to ask Devan Lannister for an audience/dinner. It was completely out of place, he knew, but he had also learned that his captor was a decent man. Maybe he could appeal to his sense of honor? The former Lord of Riverrun was desperate for news of Roslin and his unborn child.

It had been several days since Devan returned to Casterly Rock. The Warden of West's troops needed some rest after the muddy and messy siege of Riverrun... damned Freys, thought the Lannister, who observed their disorderly encampment for the weeks it took to ensure Riverrun's surrender. Blackfish had been resolute in his defense. It took Edmure and Jaime to secure the surrender of the castle to Emmon Frey, the new lord of the castle. He had been taking tallies of losses and purchasing new supplies for future campaigns. The Riverlands still had roving gangs of bandits and northmen that festered, the North was not at all secure, the krakens of the Iron Islands were on the move, and more. It was only a matter of time before Ser Devan went off to campaign again.
A guard came up from where Edmure was being held, comfortably, and gave the request of the Tully to Lannister. Devan sighs, knowing he had to be a good host since Damion was too old for this sort of thing and the Lady Paramount, Queen Cersei, was still in King's Landing. He ascents to the request and has a room prepared for a meal. Lannister wondered if this would be worth his time though.

Edmure joined his host. He bowed and took a seat. After a long and awkward silence, he spoke.
"Have they married you to Frey yet, or were you lucky enough to not be included in the deal?" Edmure said, joking.

Devan Lannister sits at the table, chewing on some tough salted pork. The bearded Westermen looks up at Edmure, giving him a long look before going back to chewing on the meat.
You shouldn't say such things with your wife due to rejoin you.
Devan says in a deep voice. He falls silent as the Warden proceeds to drink heavily from his cup. It had been a long time since a good descent meal had been had.
Although I was due to wed Desmera of House Redwyne, Lord Tywin promised me to some Frey girl. Still not sure who.
The Warden just wanted some noble lady to be his wife. He was one of the few capable males left of the Lannister line since some were still young cubs. Devan felt it was his duty to ensure the line of Stafford endured if others failed. Likely, one of the Freys would seek the hands of one of his sisters, both of whom were unwed themselves.

"Am I not allowed to joke about the family that murdered my King, my sister and took my lands and my titles? You've seen them at their best during the siege, no doubt."
Edmure sighed
"I apologize. I've lost everything, and all that remains is my crass sense of humour and the pride that's gotten me into so much trouble." He sipped the wine and ate. "Not all Freys are bad, I guess. Surely they've promised you to a decent lass, after all, you are the Warden of the West now. Roslin's a good girl, I think. I didn't get to spend a lot of time with her, you know."
He hesitated
"Have you... heard anything about her? About..." He wanted to say it: my child, but the words got caught up in his throat.

A raven arrives from King's Landing bearing the Queen's seal, she demands an army be mustered and sent to King's Landing immediately. Devan is also instructed to send a representative to the Red Keep immediately.

He hesitated "Have you... heard anything about her? About..." He wanted to say it: my child, but the words got caught up in his throat. Devan grabs some bread, breaks it and begins to eat that as well. Downing it with his cup of wine, Lannister speaks. I wouldn't joke about the people who were involved with the Red Wedding, Edmure Tully. They are now the leading house within the Riverlands after all. There were some good Freys, but good meant slightly capable. Lord Walder was the legend among them and his eldest bastard, also Walder, seemed capable. Majority were slobs, fat, or without brains. Ryman Frey, the leader of the Frey troops during the siege, was one of those people. He was a fat drunkard who enjoyed whoring and gluttony more than actually doing his job as second in line to the Twins. The bottom of the barrel had been sent to command the allied troops at Riverrun... at least Genna married someone who wasn't a slob. And acting so sullen isn't good for Casterly Rock. I like a lively castle and so do the rest of us.Devan reminds Edmure where he was and who he was a 'guest' of. At the mention of his wife, Lannister turns and motions to a servant who brings a plate of letters. Devan, putting a piece of pork in his mouth, fishes through the opened parchment until he found one letter. It was handed to Edmure. It was a raven from Riverrun. Roslin has given you a baby girl. The physician said she is quite strong. I have been told she will joining you when she is well enough to leave.Rolled a gift for the girl and she got: 81-85 is a strong child; +2 against all diseases/plagues and natural causes death rolls. Females get +10 on birth rolls.A raven arrives from King's Landing bearing the Queen's seal, she demands an army be mustered and sent to King's Landing immediately. Devan is also instructed to send a representative to the Red Keep immediately. With the Queen's command made, ravens are sent throughout the Westerlands. A report would come, days later, of a collective force of 12,500 men gathering, at Casterly Rock, to be sent to King's Landing. Command of the army was given to Lord Tytos Brax, aided by Ser Baelor Lannett, a knight from Lannisport, and Ser Gerion Pendric, a swornsword of House Banefort. They were to gather and march for King's Landing in a few days. Of the three commands, Ser Gerion is sent ahead to King's Landing as Devan's representative.

"Are they, though? Isn't Littlefinger Lord of Harrenhal and Lord Paramount of the Trident now?" Edmure asked.
"I take it you are staying in Casterly Rock then, at least until Lord Jaime pacifies the rest of the Riverlands." Lord Jaime. Edmure had grown so used to calling him Kingslayer that he somehow felt odd using his given name.
"A girl. Hmm. I'll have to think of a name."
A feeling of deep shame came over Edmure. He had an heir, a woman yes, but an heir nonetheless. Yet, he had nothing for her to inherit, only a tainted last name and a golden cage.
"Do you have any other news worth sharing?"

Devan goes back to eating, focusing now on a helping of chicken. Ser Jaime still has obligations in King's Landing. Lord Commander and all, he doesn't get the privilege of running Casterly Rock.Lannister states as he looks at Edmure. That's why I am the Warden of the West. The lion had been the son of the unimpressive Stafford, but he proved to be a good enough commander and warrior. Nothing like Tywin, Kevan, and Jaime, but he was one of the few that remained. Lucion, Damion's son was still untested, and so was Kevan's other son, Martyn Lannister. Lancel was a traitor to their family for joining the Faith Militant. Blonde haired bastard... Baelish may be Lord Paramount, but the Freys now control the Twins and Riverrun. That makes them pretty strong, Edmure.Devan states, reminding the Tully of who controlled what now. As for news, well... a lot of this and a lot of that. Battles in the North, maneuvers in King's Landing, and such. The usual, fighting and killing.

A flock of ravens is sent from Casterly Rock as Ser Devan makes inquires to the various houses for potential spouses. Not only for himself, but for his cousins, young men and blooming women of House Lannister. As Warden of the West, he sought to gain new ties and relations. He, himself, looked into the Riverlands for a potential bride if none suitable was found in the Westerlands. He had heard of the available Lady Lefford, but still, he wanted to see what else the Westerlands had to offer.

A few women are known to be available, but not many: a niece of Lord Banefort, the widow of a Kayce slain at Whispering Wood, a cousin of Lord Brax, and the Westerling sisters. They would be honoured to marry into the House of Lannister, of course, but it was down to Devan to determine whether such a match was worth his time.

Walder felt miserable. He had blisters in his ass from the prolongued time spent on the saddle. And the rain had soaked him to the bone. He looked like a wet sorry weasel with hardly meat on his bones, the hair getting on his face, the cloak all around him, heavy and full of water. Someone had the great idea of having him ride to Riverrun and back to the Rock to acompany his aunt Roslin to her jewelled jail. Walder was leading a company of men-at-arms, some that laughed behind his back, others that did it to his face. He truly felt sad and miserable. He gladdened a little when he saw the familiar shape of the Lannisters' seat and he galloped eagerly to reach the gates as soon as possible. Roslin travelled in a wheelhouse: the painting was a bit faded and someone had scrapped the Tully arms from it most crudely, but it was alright, he guessed. At least was better than soaking your sorry bony ass in the rain. The banners fall heavy on the poles and the shafts of the spears, hard to discern who was coming, but the gates was openned as soon as Red Walder said who he was and why he came and with whom. The guard said some jape to the other guard about the bastard weasel with carrot-hair, but, nothing he hadn't heard before. Once in the keep he openned the wheelhouse's door, letting Roslin step outside, grabbing her hand. Walder felt very very sorry for his aunt and tried to smile simpathetically and kindly.
"Auntie, we arrived. Here's me hoping that you'll find the Rock comely enough... I guess?"
He nervously stared at his feet. The men-at-arms warned Ser Devan and Walder tried to be nice and sent a squire to tell the prisoner, Edmure, that his wife and... babe, had arrived.

Things were pretty active at the Rock. In fact, when Emmon escorted Roslin into the center of Lannister power, he found some emissaries, bearing the colors of House Banefort, House Brax, and a few more notables of the Westerlands. Devan had been doing a lot of work, trying to get things into order. Making new friends, finding capable knights, arranging connections between the Lannisters and other noble houses. In fact, just prior to Roslin's arrival, Ser Devan was speaking with Lord Brax's representative about an arranged marriage between one of his sisters and Lord Brax's cousin. However, that meeting was cut short when the men-at-arms alerted the Lannister of an approaching Frey party. Looked to be the scheduled arrival of Lady Roslin, Edmure's wife.
Several knights awaited Walder and Roslin as Emmon made a quick departure, likely desiring to enjoy his new holdings at Riverrun. Devan walks through an entryway and down some stairs to greet the two in the courtyard. His beard was unkempt as always and ever-growing it seemed. The Lannister still wasn't used to... noble clothing. He preferred armor.
Lady Roslin, welcome. Your husband... is currently asleep. Drank a little too much last night.
Poor Riverlander seemed to do nothing else but drink and sleep. Well, besides bothering him many times over.
Walder, take your aunt to a spare room while Edmure is awaken. I will have some servants attend her and her child.

Who blames him, to be honest. My mother would slap my ass from here to Dorne, but I'd rather be drunk as an old sailor.
Thought Walder, sighing. The Warden now was Devan, old Staffy's son. Walder had liked Stafford, he was as unimpresive as his father, non-threatening and dull like a white-painted wall. Definetely likeable. His son? Not so much. Frey scratches his weak chin.
"Oh well, yes. Of course. Follow me, auntie"
The Rock hadn't been that dull in ages. Not even a lil' bit of incest to cheer it up. He certainly had eyed some relatives of his with those golden manes.
But no, I had to look like a fucking weasel. And wet on top of that.
He walks through the carved corridors, all empty and dim-lighted.
Seven hells, my aunt is as sad as this huge pile of shit of a castle. The kid doesn't stop yelling either. Was a son? Who the fuck cares anyway.
The fourth in line to inherit Riverrun steps aside as he opens the door of the would-be chambers for his aunt.
Riverrun was nice. The smallfolk willing to stab me to dead? Less so. I hope winter kills the fuck out of those twats.
"Here we're auntie. I guess uncle Edmure will arrive soon. If you excuse me, I gotta pee"
The teenager went to the privy, where he failed miserably at resisting the urge of touching himself.
