Damion turns back to counting his coin.
There is always trouble these days, Walder. Haven't had peace since Robert Baratheon was king.
Westermen soldiers were becoming fewer and fewer in number. The capable and astute were either dead or broken.
What trouble do you speak of?
Damion asks as he looks at the scale for a moment.
We have Ironborn in the Reach, a dragon in King's Landing, pirates in the Narrow Sea, Stannis in the North... or somewhere, Devan being an idiot, and the Riverlands... well you should know. So unless I am missing something.
His old eyes look up at Walder, wondering what he meant.

It seemed his kindred were much diminished in wits since Tywin died. "Maybe, just maybe we can talk about the elephant on the room, like having no lord... or lady, for that matter"

The older Lannister blinks a couple times. 'Oh yes... that,' he thought. Damion proceeds to shake his head.
Come now, Walder. We have someone to lead us. Myrcella Baratheon, Cersei's daughter, the rightful Lady of Casterly Rock!
Damion, unlike his son, supported the claim of Myrcella to lead them. That had led to another argument between father and son recently.
She will return to us one day. Until then, we must be vigilant for her. Don't you agree?
She was eleven now, so hopefully, those days would be soon.

I hardly can remember the name, Triston?"Said Walder, feigning ignorance. "Well, you see, I'm her cousin -half a Lannister myself-, through and through, unlike that bore of Daven"
He clasps hands. "One must look after family, for sure"

Damion looks at the squire of his son.
We aren't too pruned yet... thank the Seven for that.
The old Lannister reminds the young Frey.
Look at the family tree sometime. Martyn, Kevan's third son, and his daughter, Janei, are the next in line after Myrcella.
Damion had to remind himself of who remained. With Lancel gone, and others, the succession had to be redone.
If Ser Jaime were here... he'd either support his niece's claim or be the Lord of Casterly Rock himself.
He turns back to his scale, tipping a coin into it.
We certainly are a mess of a family. I wonder how Tywin managed us.
The old lion sighs deeply. He turns and smiles at Walder.
At least you have better lion's blood than Devan, Walder.

"Devan should have looked at the tree, according to my own calculations he's fifteenth in line. And... aye, cousin Janei. Most beautiful. Unmarried she's right?"He said, trying to be casual. "Poor thing, no-one to look after her..."Walder restrains himself from sliding one of the golden coins into his pocket. "Uncle Ty was larger than life, true lion that one. Shame cousin Jaime isn't around, he would rein in all those twats"He chuckles. The his eyes widen. "Oh good ser, you flatter me. Shame my father is a weasel. He gave me this face you see?"He does something midway between a laugh and a sorrowful grunt.

Lannisters are known for being ambitious, Walder. It's just a matter of...
He picks up a coin, showing the dragon on one side.
...being smart about it...
Damion then turns it to the backside.
...or being dumb about it.
Lannister, somehow, flips the coin in the direction of Walder, letting him have this one.
Janei and Myrielle both need to be married. Just a matter of finding men in the Westerlands. Likely one could go to Addam Marbrand.
Damion thinks of the gallant knight who had been among the chief swords of Tywin Lannister.
I should have him recalled from Devan. He's better suited with us here.
The old Lannister leans forward and begins writing some numbers down in a ledger.
Sandor Clegane wasn't a pretty man either, Walder. Pretty looks can get you into trouble after all. A strong arm is better suited.

Don't get me started on the guys from Lannisport"How much trouble would he had avoided if Genna had fathered at least a lion cub, gold of mane and emerald eyes, but all had the blood of Lann watered down by Late Walder's. "Myrcella is where? 'The capital with that dragon?"He frowns. "Shit me, Stranger take me, I'm a lanky bony ass who hasn't either -well, I can wield a lance and a spear thanks to your son, of course-. And... I have wits, but... what does that amount to? I'm no Jaime fucking Lannister with his golden locks and perfect jaw, you know? When you're cousin Jaime you got it easy, women open their legs bare to you, you command armies, wear a golden armor and have an equally golden sword to go along. Fucking Lancel had the looks, kind of, and got a fucking lordship, then he wasted it. What a damn shame"
His mother had pleaded Tywin for Darry, but they had gotten ill-fated Riverrun. Even Harrenhal was far better than a castle robbed with blood and treachery. "If I had a lordship wouldn't be near as dim-witted as that fucktard"

His mother had pleaded Tywin for Darry, but they had gotten ill-fated Riverrun. Even Harrenhal was far better than a castle robbed with blood and treachery. "If I had a lordship wouldn't be near as dim-witted as that fucktard" Damion reaches for some parchment to check some information. Currently in Dorne with Queen Margaery I hear and a single Kingsguard. I heard she was rather ardent about going to Dorne to be with her betrothed. The old lion states as he reaches for some more coins, putting them on the scale. 'Perfect' thought the male. We have been assured of her security and well-being. Apparently, she will be allowed to return one day.Assurances that seemed to make the old Lannister content. At the mention of lands, Damion looks at the young Frey. Well, if you aren't destined to rule Riverrun, perhaps whoever will be the future leader of the Westerlands can arrange something. I know that Lord Tywin offered lands, north of Lannisport, to Barristan Selmy. The Spicers were made Lords of Castamere after it had been left unoccupied for years. And the Cleganes were attained. Their keep is without a lord.Damion taps his wrinkled finger slightly on the table. That leader would either be Myrcella or Martyn it seemed. Or try to marry into a wealthy family and hope for a dowry that comes with some lands.

"Aye, that will work out wonderfully, ser"
Said Walder, ironical or not, was hard to say.
"I'm fourth in line for that cursed castle and they say uncle Edmure gonna be back soon to it, so I pretty much find hard to come that I'll ever see my banners over Riverrun, good Damion"
Walder scratches his head.
"You have my sword, ser, no matter if it's the shittiest one in the Rock"
He raised from the seat and turned heels to leave.
---
That said, Walder went to see his warden ser Lucion.

"You have my sword, ser, no matter if it's the shittiest one in the Rock"He raised from the seat and turned heels to leave. --- That said, Walder went to see his warden ser Lucion. Walder would find his warden not in the Rock, but outside with the troops. They were a greatly divided lot given the loyalties of their noble overlords. Lucion was trying his best to make them united, but the stubbornness of the Westermen was very obvious with the issues at hand. He retreated to his tent, for a time, to wash his face and have some wine. A knight allowed Red Walder to enter. Cousin.Lucion states as he has another cup of wine poured. We live in hard times... Devan's stupidity, the division of the Westerlands, Stannis reborn, a dragon in King's Landing... I wish I can live to see peace. A raven comes from Dragonstone. This caused quite the debate among the nobility with Damion leading one side of the argument and Lucion leading the other. It was a debate, not only over who should rule, but also showed the lines between regency or an adult leader. None spoke in favor of Devan, who had been a foolish lion in his attempt, but only of the absent Tommen, the absent Myrcella, and the young adult, Martyn, the third son of the late Kevan. It was obvious that the succession of the Westerlands was causing quite the issue for its future. When it came to support, there was little to be hand for Myrcella nor Tommen. A great number of major houses supported Martyn's claim over the other two. On the one hand, people were not even sure if Tommen was alive and, if he were, Aurane Waters would likely force the issue of who was regent. Myrcella was to be married to a Martell, making a large majority unwilling to accept a desert spawn ruling the Rock. Damion supported the lawful claims of the two, but it fell upon a great number of deaf ears. Kevan's son had strong support given the reputation of his father. The reputation of Cersei had been blackened by her actions as Queen Regent. And, given the tendencies of Joffrey, they feared that Tommen or Myrcella could turn into their older brother, becoming more violent through age. The debate would rage for some time though.

Devan kept him here for reasons.Given his cousin's ambitions, Lucion wondered if Devan had planned to secure Darry for himself. I believe Martyn should be Lord of the Rock cause we don't need a child.Lucion states. He was once a firm supporter of Cersei, but her children... the pawns of the Seven Kingdoms, not so much. Regencies and children have ensured years of war after all.

Said Walder with a candid smile. "Martyn is a year younger than me"
He chuckles. "Glad to know I'm a man grown now. I guess I'm not a cub or kit now, but a lion or a weasel, depending on which angle you chose to look at me"
Red Walder scratches the point of his nose. "A man grown could rule Darry, indeed"
