”Lady Sansa.”The King’s gaze was drawn to the new arrival, his jaw shifting mechanically as he pondered Lord Eddard’s daughter claiming the seat of her husband on the Small Council. He knew little of her and trusted her even less, a stranger to him and once a friend to Littlefinger. And besides, what would a fifteen year old girl know of ruling a realm? Melisandre followed her in, like a shadow, the mistress of whispers electing to forego the day’s preaching to take her place at her King’s side. After a brief look of acknowledgement between Stannis and his sorceress she took her seat at the side of Lord Davos, and gazed at Stark intently. ”I sent Lord Edmure to bring Baelish back here for trial, only for news to reach me that he had already been executed.”He announced, rather flatly, tone devoid of some the usual bitterness. "I'm afraid he was culprit and complicit of a heinous crime"Said Sansa. "He helped killing my own father. Baelish himself acknowledged it and tried to pass it down as necessity. That he was going to take the black"She added, very calmly. "Thus, Littlefinger, alongside the long-dead Cersei is to blame for this war that killed so many, my brother and parents included. As Lady of the Vale, I seized the traitor and had the sentence carried. He got his due and I washed my father's blood"

Ser Horpe nodded as Sansa told her tale. "Seems like justice to me, your Grace. Baelish was loyal to nobody but himself. He will not be missed."

”He had many crimes to answer for. Stealing from the royal treasury seems now to be the least of them.”
The King sternly replied to Horpe and Sansa. It seemed that justice had been delivered, albeit the king had been robbed of the chance to expose the true extent of Littlefinger’s treason.
”Ser Lucion will see fit to sell off whatever assets he held in the city with the proceeds to go to the treasury. As for Harrenhal, a Castellan must be appointed until the fate of that cursed seat is decided.”

Considering the wealth stolen and hidden, not to mention his thriving businesses within the city, the Crown will greatly reap from this.Ser Lannister makes a note in a book before him. I will see that the deeds to these places are sold at the right prices and that anything of value, belonging to the late Baelish, is taken into custody. If any need to be freshly made, in order to sell, I will speak with the Lord Hand as our Master of Laws is absent. Ser Massey and the Goldcloaks will help me in this venture.

”See to it, Ser.”
Stannis was content to allow those who knew of such matters to handle them promptly.
”As for Harrenhal, a Castellan should be appointed until ownership of the castle can be decided. The late Lady Shella left no heirs, so I shall charge Lord Edmure with finding a fitting successor to her line.”
The King was clearly waiting for suggestions, turning to his councillors expectantly.

Lucion ponders for a moment. Perhaps Ser Brynden Blackfish. A notable knight of the Riverlands and the Lord Paramount's uncle.Lannister suggests, thinking of a knight within the Riverlands. I would suggest a Westermen knight, but the Lord Lannister has sent ravens, requesting their return, from the other Seven Kingdoms, in order to help with the Westerland's future.Young Martyn wanted the knights to come home and be with their families after all these years of war as he recalled. Lucion wasn't very knowledgeable of who Stannis had in his services. Otherwise, perhaps Lord Tully might know of others to suggest.

"Aye the Blackfish would be a suitable choice. He is well respected in the Riverlands." Horpe echoed.

"My uncle Brynden would quite make quite a castellan"
Said Sansa softly.
"Albeit there must be a ruling lord... or lady. Harrenhal is a princely keep and its revenues are not inconsiderable"
She looks around.
"I decided to live under my uncle's roof here in the city, I will talk this out with Lord Edmure"

The thought of a reigning lord or lady made Lucion consider something.
Your Grace, if I may suggest, instead, make Harrenhal a knightly title, a non-hereditary one.
The Master of Coin suggests.
Since it was built by House Hoare, before the coming of Aegon, it has been ruled by eight houses over three centuries. Some of which met unsavory ends. Qoherys was wiped out by Harren the Red, Harroway by Maegor the Cruel, House Strong by the wolf that was Cregan Stark, and so forth. House Lothson was the only one who held the land for a considerable amount of time, whereas others became extinct, by many ways, resulting in it being unoccupied once more.
The Curse of Harrenhal they called it.
Its vassals could be added to other Riverlanders, or made into a new fief, and the castle itself, considering its location, on the roads to the North and into the Vale, could be ruled by a Castellan, with the title of Ser of Harrenhal, the Knight of the Towers. They will reign and manage the land till death or by the decision of either the Lord Paramount of the Riverlands or, as it has always been before, the occupant of the Iron Throne.
Lucion recalled how even Tywin only used it as a large enough headquarters for his army during his war with Robb Stark.

”The Blackfish, then.”
Stannis saw it as sound advice, he couldn’t contest that Ser Brynden was a man with a reputation for honour and good service. He waved his hand dismissively.
”Spare us the history lesson, Ser Lucion. Even Lord Davos has read the History of the Great Houses.”
The King paused to take a cup of water.
”If Harrenhal is robbed of its lands and vassals it will fall into ruin. Lord Whent could scarcely afford to keep half his castle running twenty years ago, when the lands were untouched by war and his bannermen paid their dues.”
Stannis shared a look with Lord Davos, the most brief of sideways glances.
”The Curse be damned, we will find a new Lord for Harren’s old halls.”

Ser Lucion acknowledges the words of the King. He thought his suggestion might be a good one, considering that Lord Tully, among other Lord Paramounts, was in a weakened state after what the war had done to the Riverlands. The Tullys had always been the weaker of the various Riverlords. Whoever held Harrenhal could become a thorn in Edmure's side.
Then, as Lady Stark has said, perhaps we should wait for Lord Tully's return in order to discuss Harrenhal's future. He would likely know who to best raise up as its Lord

Stannis lifted his eyes to meet those of the new arrival.
"Massey. Report on the City Watch, if you would."
The King sat up straight in his seat, expectantly.

"The state of the City Watch is poor, sire." Massey reported honestly. There was no sense in lying to or sugarcoating news for the iron King. "No small number of the men who served Tommen Waters and Aegon-called-Targaryen died in the siege. Of the survivors, few have dared return to the barracks." He took a breath. "I'll need to rebuild their ranks, and quickly, if they're to become a force capable of protecting this city from both anarchy and any other...outside threats. And of course, any new recruits I gather will need not just a salary but also equipment, and even if we recover weapons and armor from the fallen Goldcloaks repairing that equipment will cost even more coin."
"Fortunately, I have met people who can help me with that. One Eldred Hill, a knight and former officer of the Watch who claims that you spared him and allowed him to keep his cloak - I've asked him to try to bring some of his fellow former Goldcloaks back to duty, if he can. Besides that, a Ser Ryger informed me that his overlord Tully has left to mete out justice in the Riverlands, but that he was left here to take Lord Edmure's place in helping to keep the peace in the streets. He thinks we could recruit some of the former Faith Militant, provided that they're willing to serve and protect the people fairly regardless of their God or gods, and should be on his way to Baelor's Sept to do just that right about now. And Lord Davos has advised me to recruit young men from Flea Bottom, clever types whose eyes and hearts have yet to be soiled by too much criminal activity, which I intend to do immediately."

"sounds to me as if the dregs are being used to fill the ranks. If your priority is haste over quality I might remind you that these men will be the first line of defense between the people of the Capital and criminals, pirates, smugglers, and other manner of outlaws." See Horpe added. "Perhaps they could use some discipline, knightly training. It may give them some bride to drill with the Kingsguard and receive instruction from seasoned Knights. It may remind the former pot shop cook that he is now a man in service to the Crown, not some pot scrubber with more loyalty to the local dice game ring leader."
