Son of the Marcus Livius Drusus Censor, Consul 112BC and Censor 109 , died 109. After becoming paterfamilias at the young age of 15, Marcus was forced to take responsibility for himself , his lands and his sister. He has become untrusting of strangers and has missed the valuable time among boys and men of similar age, so he is more solitary than most young Roman men. Stern and stoic, he is quiet concerned with his sister Drusia, whom he has sheltered from public life, and she has not left the house except for rare occasions.

The steward leads Marcus past the front fountain and into the atrium, where after a few minutes he was introduced to Livius Drusus.
He was a young man who had been head of the household for the past ten years after the untimely death of his father. He was wiry but had a strange toughness to him. He looked far sterner than a man of 25 should

Drusus looked up from his ledger , and with a nod to the chair opposite him. " Ave , Marcus Aemilius," he said as welcoming as he could , yet it still did not come out in a particularly pleasant manner. " What brings you to see me today?"

Lepidus the younger raised a brow. This man truly was a stern one.
"Salve Drusus, I come on behalf of my father, Marcus Aemilius Lepidus the Elder. He commands a vast army in Gaul and is looking for fine young man who can serve with the legions." Lepidus said

Drusus looked over Lepidus the younger. He looked like a fit young son of a Roman noble, a slight arrogance to his demeanor, which was only fitting after his father's recent victories.
"I see," he replied as he put down his stylus. " This is a slight surprise , I must say. Since my father's death, I have been forced to be paterfamilias, and so while I have the requesite training, the pursuit of military career has been not been at the front of my mind." He continued.
After a pause he added " there is also the matter of my sister, who I am unsure I can leave alone."

Lepidus raised a brow. Perhaps this was a handsome sister. “How come?” Lepidus interjected hinting at the sister. Before adding. “My father would handsomely reward you for your service of course”

'With both our parents dead, it has fallen on me to raise her. And she is quite demanding. she would have no guidance if I was not around. " Marcus answered. " I would not expect any more payment than any other legate Marcus. with a fair share of any spoils of course. "

"Would it be possible for my sister to be housed with your family under a good strong Roman supervision?" Drusus asks. "IF so , I will make my preparations and head up to Gaul to meet with your father as soon as I can arrange transport."

Lepidus the younger smiled politely. “I suppose you’ve heard our cousin speak in the senate, representing his interests while he is occupied. She would be more than welcome to stay there. His wife is very” Lepidus paused to find the words. He hated the old wrench. Probably because she disproved of his and his fathers widespread whoring. “Conservative” he finally said after a breed pauze.

"Conservative would be what I would expect." Drusus finally gave a faint smile, which did brighten his face somewhat. He would be quite handsome if he bothered to think about securing a wife more than vaguely. "What exactly would your father expect of me in Gaul? I have not heard much since his victories were proclaimed." He paused. " I am afriad the recent struggles throughout Italy proper have focused my attention on business matter overmuch, and i have not spent enough time around the Forum." Marcus conceded.

Lepidus the younger smiled. Seems like druses was one of the old guard. “My father needs men he can count on. Aquitani tribesmen recently killed 70 of Rome’s finest young man. The relations on the border are tense and my father commands three legions. A military career can be the start of serious political engagement” Lepidus ensured him the senator.

The halls of the house rather bare, Decianus is led through the atrium into Marcus's office, an orderly room, where everything is in its own place. Drusus gets up to great the tribune. "Salve, Gauis. Congratulations on your election victory."
