After a spirited Gallic attack, Lepidus' legions rally and drive the Gauls back, the right flank rolling up their line. Lepidus loses 666 men, gains 5000 denarii, and slays 1500 Gauls in the rout. All legions gain a veterancy point. The Allobroges are badly mauled, and immediately request a peace with Rome, having retreated north. Lepidus orderes the men replenished for 3.000 and accepts a host of Allobroges into his encampment. Where his new legion joins him at the same time as a show of power before the tribal leaders.

The Allobroges propose a status quo ante bellum, offering hostages, tribute and funds to the Roman state in exchange for promises of no further confiscation or settlement on their tribal lands.

Lepidus requests a personal tribute of 50.000 denarii and then he will accept all other terms as offered. If not, his legions wil march into Allobroges held land and ensure the destruction of every single tribe member.

Lepidus orders his cavalry to disperse in the lands of the hostile tribes on the borders of the realm and investigate which villages are there, what forces are there and their relative wealth. With the campaign season opening the legions are readied for renewed campaigns.

The scouts return bruised and beaten. Apparently, the activity of the Roman legions on their doorstep has made both the Aquitani and the Arverni wary. Whatever riders the Romans sent into Gaul were quickly driven off by their Gallic counterparts.

Lepidus sends word to the senate. He then marches out of camp with the three legions under his command to the nearest Aquitani settlement. Screened by cavalry so they are not ambushed. Lepidus sends word to his gallic allies, asking for support.

The Aedui and Allobroges each send a force of Gallic cavalry to assist Lepidus, numbering 2500 strong in total. The Aedui also bring word that the Arverni tribe are particularly concerned by Roman aggression in the area, and warn the Pro-Consul that they may take punitive action to defend their lands.

The Aquitani, having kept a stern eye on their border, send horsemen to shadow the Roman encroachment. An emissary arrives at the Roman camp one night, imploring Lepidus to turn back or else suffer the wrath of their tribe.

Lepidus' army encroaches on the settlement of Lactora, home to one of the smaller Aquitanian tribes. Having been warned of his arrival, they have sent missives to the surrounding tribes. Lacora is a medium sized tribal settlement located on a hilltop, surrounded by a flat plain. The Gauls have retreated behind the wooden walls of Lacora, deciding to wait out the Romans and hope that their tribal allies arrive to drive them off.

With no siege equipment and no plan, the Romans are driven back rather quickly down the slopes of Lacora, finding that they could not scale the walls as they had planned without even rudimentary siege weaponry. Seventy legionaries are lost, being pelted with stones and projectiles from the walls above.

The Romans regroup and try lighting the walls on fire with Greek fire. The legions surround the hilltop so an attack in all directions can be made. Batterijg rams are prepared and a assault is sounded once more.
