Naso publishes an epic poem written in Greek narrating Metellus' victory against the Helvetii. He showers the man in praise and explains how he defeated 100.000 barbarians with only 10.000 men. He also greatly aggrandizes his own role in the battle, spending some pages describing a fictional cavalry charge led by himself atop his beautiful warhorse Ganymede. There's also mention of a grumpy and joyless tribune who hated Gallic pants but his name is not mentioned.
+3 dignitas

Cinna resumes his questionable business in the suburra, enhancing his already growing reputation as a degenerate philanderer. Decianus is embarrassed publicly as a citizen recognises him as his drag persona. He is roundly mocked in the Senate for months afterwards. Naso publishes an epic poem written in Greek narrating Metellus' victory against the Helvetii. He showers the man in praise and explains how he defeated 100.000 barbarians with only 10.000 men. There's also mention of a grumpy and joyless tribune who hated Gallic pants but his name is not mentioned. +3 dignitas Naso's poem is once again a resounding success, praised by all as a fine and entertaining piece. It also somewhat enhances the reputation of both him and Metellus, albeit some doubt that the barbarians outnumbered the Romans by quite so large a margin. They do not, however, approve of his love for Gallic pants.

Licinia Tertia's mourning period for her martyred father produces a spectacle as her emotions erupt outward from her spoiled and privileged life

A domestic dispute between Licinia and a handmaiden broils out into the street, as the Matron has the hapless maid publicly cast out and beaten for supposedly trying to seduce the master of the house, young Gaius. A complaint is lodged by the family, but nothing comes of it, despite the large number of witnesses.

Regulus finds out that his wife has been sleeping with one of the slaves in retaliation for his well known affairs with other men. Atellus, despite his loss of the Consulship, is buoyed by the fact that he has found a new hobby; he has begun cultivating his own stud farm in the countryside of Latium.

As every year I want saucy stories: -Scipio Sr. -His wife Licinia Maior. -Pompey Magnus. -Cicero. Scipio finds joy in the simple things. He and Cadmus get some time alone after the funeral orations to unwind. His relationship with the Greek body slave has grown very close, sparking the envy even of his wife. They spend a few days every month on the Etrurian coast, and this month was no different. Licinia Major has a horrible week. She finds that a good portion of her father’s more personal possessions were taken by her sister Licinia Tertia, the scheming witch. Her sons are also growing to the difficult teenage years and are now refusing to obey her, preferring instead to beat the living shit out of each other. Pompey embarrasses himself on the field of Mars after tripping up in front of his new underlings. A few laugh. Enraged, he publicly beats one of the men personally to avenge his slighted honour. Cicero still has no luck with Domitilia. Or any ladies for that matter. They always seem to go for those noble boys on the Palatine. Worse still, some of those bastards have begun making fun of his skinny legs, and have taken to calling him Chicken.

Gaius Marius learning/studying Roman military practices first hand with Legio XIII Felix Marius is taken under the wing of some of senior veterans, some of whom had served with Sulla since the Cimbrian wars. Some of the other tribunes resent the favouritism shown to the younger man, while a couple of the more impressionable ones start sycophantically following him like sheep. Up on the road, Lepidus wondered how his fortunes looked. So he decides to ask for a sign from the gods themselves. Lepidus sees several eagles fly overhead on the road to Roma, above the eternal city itself. Surely a favourable portent, a sign of a blessing from the King of the Gods himself.

Gaius Marius with his sliced and stitched thigh in Capua. He prays to Mars - genuinely this time, promising him another huge tribute.
