Randyll turned and offered a slight bow to the High Septon, "Of course your holiness, we would want no affront to the Seven. It is a good thing you are here to keep us from straying in our urgency to reclaim King Tommen." He watched him leave, and then turned back to the gathering. "Lord Tarly, if I may speak bluntly, unless we can convince Waters to bring Tommen on land, Ser Lannister and I have no hope of recovering the Prince. The second we leave shore, Waters will be all but free to sink whatever ships we have and damn our entire force without a chance to fight back. I realize the High Septon has voiced an objection to any form of deceit, but something must be done to convince him to leave the safety of Dragonstone and make himself vulnerable." He paused and considered. "From what I have seen, Ser Devan is a capable commander, and his men will follow him. Even if the bastard brings his full force to bear on us, so long as we are on land I am confident that we can defeat him. We will likely have to arrange for a meeting to prove that Tommen lives, and move quickly from there. I imagine he will request a meeting on the water, that cannot be allowed to happen."

Devan watched as the High Septon left. He never understood why, why in the Seven, Cersei thought it was a good idea to raise such a man. She was a fool to try and control the Faith. He turns to Mace Tyrell, hearing the letter stated involving Aurane Waters and his side of the story. Lord Tyrell claimed that this was all Aurane's fault, but it was hard to tell. The Red Cloaks said that it was sellswords that attacked. They bore no colors save the companies they were associated with or no colors at all.
Lord Tyrell, I have twelve thousand men outside of the capital. If you feel that you need all your men to attack Storm's End, I can provide security for Princess Myrcella and ensure the holding of the capital. Otherwise, I can supply half my troops to match your half of the Reachmen garrison and send the other half back to Hayford. I must know what you need my troops to do.
Devan wondered what Lord Tyrell would choose to do.

Mace bowed slightly as the High Sparrow left the meeting. Then he turned back and sighed heavily.
"I have reached... a decision. I will take 30,000 men with me to Storm's End to bring down the Targaryen pretender. Lord Tarly will command the 5,000 left here, and Ser Lannister will commit the other 5,000 to the garrison. The rest of your forces, Ser Lannister, can be stationed at Hayford for now. You two I leave the task of rescuing King Tommen and bring Aurane Waters to justice. You have full discretion to do what you must to accomplish this task. You can offer him whatever you see fit to lure him into your trap, it shall bear the seal of the Hand. Raise him to Lord Velaryon of Driftmark? Make him Master of Ships? Dragonstone? What my lords think necessary, do it. Use the Master of Whispers if needs be, King Tommen must be saved. Any questions, my lords?"

Devan noticed how unoriginal Lord Tyrell was. This was the man everyone called the Oaf of the Reach. He just took the suggestion, made by Lannister, without any sort of changes or thought. Still, the task of rescuing Tommen from the grips of Waters and bringing him to justice was another task in itself. The Warden of the West wasn't exactly the kind of man for this line of work, but this was his royal cousin. He had to give an effort.
I will coordinate with Lord Tarly and Qyburn on the matter of Tommen's rescue. The capital will be kept secure while you are away, Lord Tyrell.
Devan planned to speak with both Tyrell and Tarly. There were some personal ambitions to accomplish first, after all. So far, he was just a member of House Lannister among this crowd. He needed to elevate that further and achieve a greater degree in order to expand his influence and ensure House Lannister could be revived.

"I do not think that the Princess Myrcella is safe in the city, my lords. Perhaps it would be best for the realm if the girl is taken back to Casterly Rock, or back to Sunspear."
Nymeria suggested, moving over and placing a gentle hand on the girl's shoulder.
"If the Keep is attacked again or if, Seven forbid, lord Tyrell is defeated, at least the Princess will be out of the hands of our enemies."

"I find myself agreeing with Lady Nymeria, my lord," Tarly turned to Mace, "With ten thousands at our disposal, it would be easier for Lord Lannister and myself to concentrate on simply reacquiring King Tommen if we did not also have to devote a portion of our strength to assuring the princess' safety." He glanced towards Nymeria Sand levelly, wondering what thoughts went on behind the Sand Snake's eyes.

Devan glances at Nymeria, wondering what that woman had in her mind.
She has been to Sunspear before and been hurt... however, her betrothed, Trystane, is there and House Martell has been good to her.
Lannister taps his finger lightly on the table.
Casterly Rock is on the other side of the waters from Aurane. She would be with kin there.
He pulls three fingers through his beard, contemplating.
Either or should be fine as a place to keep Myrcella safe and sound.

"There is however the matter of the Ironborn. With the Imp's assassin Darkstar now dead, Sunspear will be safe, and she can be wed to her betrothed once she is flowered. Once Euron is defeated we can escort her to Casterly Rock, if that is my Lord Tyrell's will."
Sand smiled sweetly, discretely meeting Tarly's eyes with her own dark gaze. They glittered hazel when they caught the light. After a pause, they were drawn down to Myrcella.
"And the will of the Princess herself, of course." Nymeria added, gently, "For she is almost a woman grown now."

"Anywhere is safer than here, and I would sooner be with Trystane." Myrcella replied. "It is not safe here, and my uncle Jaime is gone too. I will go to Dorne."
Ser Strong took two steps forward towards Myrcella, indicating that he would not be left behind.

"Very well, if you all think that Princess Myrcella's safety is not guaranteed in King's Landing, I'll bow to sage counsel. The princess will be moved... to Highgarden. The land route to Dorne is cut-off by the Targaryen, and I trust not the sea road as long as Waters remains in the bay. Queen Margaery will accompany Princess Myrcella, of course."
Give them a finger and they will take the hand, Mace thought to himself. He was not about to lose another royalty.
"Highgarden is safe and secure, and garrisoned with enough men to hold off any assault. It will be best, at least until the Seven Kingdoms is secured."

"Highgarden is also threatened by a host of Ironborn. Sunspear would be safer, and with Dorne's spears guarding the marches our passage is secured."
Nymeria responded, levelly. She was not about to be outplayed by an old fool like Mace Tyrell.
"We should respect the will of the princess, Lord Hand. She has suffered much. We should take her somewhere where her safety is certain and she will be happy."

Mace's mood soured a little. He distinctly remembered how he did not like the Dornish. Yet he returned a smile to Nymeria Sand.
"I can assure my lady, Highgarden is as safe as Sunspear, if not more so. The roseroad has not been compromised and leads straight to one of the mightiest fortresses in the Seven Kingdoms. However, I understand completely the wishes of Princess Myrcella. I will be accommodating, and happily extend an invitation to Prince Trystane as well. I would not be so cruel as to hold the two betrothed apart."

Myrcella brightened at the thought of Maergery accompanying them. "Might Maergery come to Sunspear as well? I am sure we will all be quite safe there. She thought of Sunspear, and to be back with Trystane, to spend hours walking the gardens and tasting sweet fruits and figs, the spiced foods, and all the sights and smells of the city. "I am sure Maergery will fall in love with Dorne as I have, oh I am sure of it." She was very much still a girl, despite the horrors that seemed always so close at hand.

"We would be honoured to have the Queen accompany us, if that is her desire."
Nymeria felt a pang of pity for Myrcella, an innocent harmed by those who played at politics. A part of Nym had grown fond of the little princess, whose easy courtesy and quick wit were rather endearing.
"With enemies in the Reach, I think it prudent to take the safer road through the marches. We do not wish to lose the Princess as well as the king."
She looked around herself, specifically at Lord Tarly, her gaze searching for his support.

"I must confess, my liege, that I have had some concern about the Ironborn presence in the Reach as well. While they may be harrying the southern coast at the moment, they control the Shields still, and thus control the waters fully, and therefore any information about their own movements. Even know they could move ships up the Mander - their longboats are uniquely suited to such an action - and be at Highgarden almost without word while your son's forces are still in Oldtown. We could march the princess right into siege lines, or worse, an occupied city, and hand her to Euron Greyjoy and his bloodthirsty ilk." He traced out a path from King's Landing. "Moving to Tumbleton first avoids the perils of any Targaryen ambush in the Kingswood, and then cutting straight south will bring them into Dorne through one of the Red Mountains' many passes and to safety. If your lordship's forces march at the same time, it will likely draw the attention of the pretender to the host moving through the Kingswood, and a small quick party can go unnoticed, even if his grasp could reach that far in the first place."
