”Brownhill. I know the man.”
The King grimaced at the shared memory of the fire and death of the Blackwater. A throne could be won again when lost, but lives could not. Sons could not.
”You have my leave to do so. What you do with your lands is your business. They are yours now and until the end of time.”
Only Davos would ask permission for such trivialities. It was a welcome change from dealing with the Florents.

”Brownhill. I know the man.”The King grimaced at the shared memory of the fire and death of the Blackwater. A throne could be won again when lost, but lives could not. Sons could not. ”You have my leave to do so. What you do with your lands is your business. They are yours now and until the end of time.”Only Davos would ask permission for such trivialities. It was a welcome change from dealing with the Florents. "I still have to get used to it, sire. I've never ruled over a land so large, with bannermen and such"Said Davos. "Never I had vassals to burden me with pleas and petitions and some might be itchy about having me as their liege"
He found it weird that a man like Casper Wylde, a veteran of many wars and member of an old lineage was now sworn to him, the Onion Knight. "But, they better grow used to it. They're gonna have to wash the smell of onions from their clothes, I bet"
He laughed. "Now, if you excuse me, I have to hand my gift and salute the princess. By your leave, my king"--- Davos went into the princess' chambers and after the first pleasantries and chit chat with the handmaidens he embraced the Baratheon warmly, which was a gross breach of protocol. "Princess, so very glad to have you back. I trust my son hasn't been infuriating these months"He joked. Devan was apparently training in arms under the gaze of the keep's master-at-arms. "I brought you a gift. They were among the Imp's belongings. It was all in a corner of my tower, gathering a thick layer of dust"
The former smuggler hands her a pile of tomes, tied with a rope. They were a handful of books, likely part of the Imp's collection, stranded on his former chambers. Davos had laborously gathered the most interesting ones and he kept a few. Some he thought weren't suitable for the princess, like the Loves of Queen Nymeria, which had fairly scandalous miniatures. But others, like the account of the Sea Snake's Nine Voyages he knew would delight Shireen.

Shireen returned the embrace warmly, ignoring the perturbed looks of the handmaidens and the wry smile of the white-clad Giantslayer at the door.
”Devan’s missed you a lot, even though he is too stubborn to say so. I think the Vale bored him.”
Too quiet by half, when compared to the colourful characters and imminent danger that was present at the Wall. Shireen had enjoyed the comfort, and the company of the Lady Stark and her handmaidens. When Seaworth presented her with the books, she couldn’t restrain a grin from ear to ear. She held up the tomes to the light, and began flicking through the words of maester Mathis.
”They didn’t have many books in the Vale. No wonder the men are all so keen to bash each other’s brains in.”
She paused, to remember her manners.
”Thank you, Davos.”
The Princess turned back to her books, poring over the colourful account of Lord Corlys’ expedition beyond Eastwatch and the Wall. It reminded her of her own brief time in the lands of Winter.
”You can help me read them. It will be good practice for you. The Hand of the King must know his letters.”
She japed, though not unkindly.

After the raids were done, and some time was done investigating the promissory notes and the books, Lucion Lannister comes to see the King to report his preliminary findings.

"He's also not used to be that far from the sea, Shireen. For better or worse he has the salt on his veins, like me. I bet staying amidst the mountains, secluded because of the heavy snows with little to do was far too much for him. And I missed him dearly"Davos replied. "Nothing to thank me for, they're too thick and long for me to read on my own. Also, my old head can barely keep up with those complicated stories"He smiled with the princess' jokes. "My pleasure, I've been plunging my nose in boring parchments covered in scribbled numbers and complains. Quite a chore"

Ser Lucion is escorted within the Holdfast to see the King, finding Stannis in his chambers consulting with the various officers of the treasury, mostly lowborn bureaucrats who had been promoted from the counting houses and merchant guilds to service in the royal household.
—
”I’m not surprised that father has been keeping you busy.”
The Princess gave a wry smile. Her father worked all day and most nights, as he always had done, and so for most of her days she was left with her haindmaidens or her mother. She went over to the window and peered down towards the courtyard where a few armoured men were crossing blades.
”Well he’s back in the yard again, showing the squires all that he learned from those valiant Valesmen. He’s become quite good with the sword, though don’t tell him I said so.”
She liked Devan as he was, humble and kind. The Knights of the Vale were not much more than brutes in armour, despite their vows and supposed chivalry.

Ser Horpe positioned himself at Shireen's door, aware of the role she might play in the future of the court. She had met her prior, of course, even if only briefly. He kept his right hand upon his sword, but he whistled a familiar tune: the bear and the maiden fair.

Ser Lucion carried a number of parchments. He noticed those present, these were the sorts of men and families that controlled wealth within King's Landing. He glances down at some of the notes, noticing that there were those, among the economic sector, that were in the pay and under the influence of Baelish. Lannister wondered if any of those men were present. He bows to his King before approaching. Your Grace, I present to you the preliminary report of the raids on Baelish's brothels.Figures and names were placed before the King. Valuables worth close to a hundred thousand dragons, properties worth over a hundred and twenty thousand further, and then came a list of names, high and low, who had their names on a number of promissory notes. Another piece of parchment was given, indicating what was found in the records, namely investments within and outside of Westeros. Sire, as you can see, promissory notes range throughout King's Landing, the Crownlands, and the Vale.Lannister points to names such as Waynwood, Corbray, and such. I found little evidence of expenditures in the Riverlands though.

I can hardly know where's the pointy end of the sword, most I ever did was knocking people with my bare hands, you see?"He closed his fists and punched the air. "I once felled a man called Dragos the Myrman. Oddly enough he was from Pentos, but folks in the Disputed Lands are weird. He was at least seven feet tall, all muscle. We got into a fight because Salla had accused him of cheating in a game of dice and I have to save that pale ass with my fists. But I must admit I had a dark eye for a fortnight and lost a tooth"
Seaworth laughed. "Well, I hope he doesn't become like every other knight and the 'ser' doesn't get to his foolish big head, I didn't raise the lad to be like... ugh..."He lowers the voice. "That lord of the Vale.... I've heard they call him Harry Bag'of'Rocks"

A troupe of men in wool and velvet finery turned to pay Ser Lannister their respects, commoners with surnames like Tailor, Smith, Cobbler and Miller that now wore the King’s badge. They kept his records, counted his coins, and filled every corner of the Red Keep, though their names meant as little as the dirt beneath their feet. They stepped aside as Lucion came forward. “Lannister.”
The King briefly scanned the papers before handing them off to a short bearded man in a cap. ”So, we now own the debts of half the Vale. See to it that those involved are informed. And send a man to Gulltown, too, they might turn up some more of Littlefinger’s money.”

The Princess thought Davos too kind to raise his fists unless it was for a very good reason. She giggled conspiratorially.
”Sansa Stark thought of him in the same way, but don’t gossip about it.”
Her handmaidens joined in with the laughter. Many of them fancied Lord Harry, which only made it seem funnier.
“But you don’t need to worry. I’ll make sure he doesn’t become the next Lord Arryn.”

I believe he called Drearfort.Lannister had been looking at a map of the Vale while figuring out which houses were owed debts. Lord Baelish likely had coin hidden there for ease of access.Seemed things were expanding from outside of King's Landing now. What about the investments? We have some within the capital, but there are those across the Narrow Sea. Perhaps a means to ensure money was stowed away for an escape. I see the mention of small banks here and there, but some I wonder are creations of Baelish to keep more safe and out of view.

”My stewards will aid you in your search, Ser Lucion. Look wherever you have to, from Harrenhal to Pentos.”
Commanded Stannis, with a gesture to the men who had been scribbling furiously at every word from the King.
”Report to the Small Council once you are done. Ensure whatever money you find is put in the treasury. The Braavosi are getting irksome; they sent one of their coin counters to speak with you.”

"When you're a low-life like I was, princess, you sometimes have to get dirty. But I never hurt anyone unprovoked or willingly. At most I've been in inn brawls"He said with a smile. Then, it increased tenfold, becoming a laughter as Shireen commented on Sansa's opinion on her own husband. "My lips are shut, Shireen. He makes a pretty lord, certainly. Oh, you better work on him, princess, I don't want him to get ruined. Least so because he's starting to have a proper beard and doesn't stop pestering me about it. Finally he doesn't look like a peach, though, the Smith be thanked"

A knight and a man grown now.”She thought it made him look a touch older and more dashing.
“I will keep my eyes on him when he comes to Storm’s End with me. Father says he will make it my seat.” He would be her protector, she supposed, though it was hard to imagine they would be doing any fighting. Queen Selyse had not been happy at the news.Following a long journey, an exhausted looking Rycherd Crane presents himself to King Stannis' holdfast as ordered. “Lord Crane. I shall make this brief.” Stannis rose from his seat within the royal solar. ”The Reach’s disloyalty has been forgiven, but not forgotten. Those houses great and small that raised swords against me must provide a hostage as an insurance for their loyalty. Beginning with the Tyrells.”
