Cinna writes a letter that with all hostile ports blockaded, he wishes to be given an opportunity to prove himself on the land with his legion VII Fulminata. Orders reach him from Sulla. He is to scout the Aegean sea, particularly around Greece, for any trace of the Mithridatic fleet. Furthermore, he is to personally negotiate with the Rhodians for naval reinforcements so that the Republic might dominate the naval theatre of the upcoming war. Once this is done, then he shall be able to lead his legion into battle.
MArcus Aemilius, still sore and stitched up by the medicus made his way to the command tent, he looked a bit gray but was feeling well regardless. "Salve Sulla" he said upon entry of the Imperator's make shift headquarters.
"Lepidus."Sulla rose from his seat to greet his step-nephew and grasped him by his good arm, appearing relieved. He had been worried about the young man, who to many had seemed to be on the doors of death for some days after the battle."It is good to see you well, my friend. Your bravery saved many lives once again. Five thousand denarii of the war booty shall be yours to do with as you will."It would be arranged by his slaves, of course. Money was left out of the hands of dignified men. Even ones as rich as Sulla."Now we march to Sitia, and put this cursed place behind us. I pray that this campaign is soon done, for greater glory awaits us elsewhere."
Mithridates was the prize winning animal of the day, the rash actions of Crassus relegating his own affairs to a mere sideshow. Cinna sends scouting ships to search for any hostile fleets in the Aegean sea

Lepidus extended his arm to the one Sulla offered. Smiling as he greeted the great Roman general altough Marcus still had some pain he battled through. The honor of being received by Sulla and the praise he gave was enough for the young Lepidus to forget about it for a moment. "You honor me yet again Sulla" Lepidus said with respect to the man whom he owed so much. "I wish to lead the next assault as well if you'll let met" Lepidus added but he wondered what greater glory Sulla mentioned. "Where lays this glory you speak off?" Lepidus had been sleeping mostly for the past days. "Mithridates of Pontus has invaded our lands in Asia. If we can conclude this Cretan war soon, we can make for Cilicia and prosecute the war there."Replied the Pro-Consul, slipping once again into the stern mask of the general."But these pirates are a stubborn lot. I had hoped to convince them to surrender so that they might settle elsewhere, being driven to this fate by poverty and destitution."Sulla grimaced."Instead they choose to bleed me dry as often as they can. I shall see such futile resistance crushed and have them crucified for their impertinence."

The Romans sail for many days before reaching the Greek mainland where they find that some 60 ships have been sighted, make and model remain unknown but they are rumored to be Greek. The Roman ship crews are exhausted from the long, hard sail to mainland Greece.
Lepidus extended his arm to the one Sulla offered. Smiling as he greeted the great Roman general altough Marcus still had some pain he battled through. The honor of being received by Sulla and the praise he gave was enough for the young Lepidus to forget about it for a moment. Lepidus rose a brow. All out war in Asia. Crassus mustve let things spiral out of control Marcus thought. "We will mop the floor with these brigands and then we shall set ablaze the Pontic lands with a terrible vengeance Sulla, I will personally make sure of it" the young lepidus said wit ha fire inside him. He needed to go back into the action and quick.

"After Knossos falls, I shall leave the island in the hands of a capable deputy to begin the process of transforming the island into a province and root out the last of the pirates. The rest of us shall sail for Asia to face the Mithridatic threat."

Caesar triumphantly marches into Knossos and has the garrison stripped of arms and armor. He keeps his promise and has the pirates bound and imprisoned for now, their ultimate fate left undecided until the Cretan campaign is concluded. He sends a messenger to find Sulla's army near Sitia to report the fall Knossos, requesting further orders. For now, the Legio I and Legio XII will occupy Knossos.
---
The combined pirate army from Kydonia and Rethymno finally arrive at Knossos, only to find it occupied by Roman forces. Enraged, they decide to put the city under siege. Caesar, who has been notified of the incoming enemy force, sallies out of the gates to face his foe on the field of battle.

The two Roman legions, much more heavily armoured and of veteran status, sweep through the comparatively lightly armoured Greeks with ease. Against Caesar's cavalry, the engagement was more even, with one of the flanking groups pushing back the horsemen and moving to encircle the Romans. Despite this success, the destruction that Caesar had wrought with the Cimbrian and Gallic veterans ensured that he could simply roll up the pirate line and put them to flight. Thousands were killed in the ensuing massacre, as the Roman cavalry relentlessly ran down their fleeing enemies.
Roman victory.
Casualties:
Romans: 410 Legionaries - 150 of the Legio I, 260 from the Legio XII 66 Cavalry
Pirates: 5900 Light Infantry 1075 Heavy Infantry
12,000 is looted in supplies and cash from the enemy baggage train.
The Legio Cornelia gains a veteran point from the one sided engagement
---
A missive from Sulla comes following the battle, congratulating Caesar and ordering he press his advantage on the west of the island. Leaving the siege of Sitia in the command of Lepidus, Sulla takes the Legio III Victrix westward to Knossos, intending to assume sole command of the situation now that much of the east of Crete was under his sway.
