What's the status of our neighboring barracks? I know the one at the Tower of Hand is no longer operable cause of wildfire.Devan heads into the area where the men tended to eat. Over the next several days, discipline was harshly enforced. Devan went to work, as Lord Commander, in seeing the City Watch reformed and organized for their task ahead. The instructors, who showed poor performance, were replaced and those who showed lazy tendencies were removed. Lannister did his best to ensure his knights enforce stricter discipline and better cohesion. It was the only way to ensure they could handle the mobs that were the Poor Fellows. They were the harder bunch considering their numbers.

Some weeks after his appointment as Hand of the King, Randyll Tarly travelled to the Goldcloaks barracks to speak with the similarly recently appointed Ser Devan. When Lord Tarly entered the East Barracks, he would find the Goldcloaks being drilled with the regular routine. The City Watch was getting closer to its task, perhaps another good week and they could be deployed. One of the Westermen knights noticed the Lord Hand and pointed to an open window where Ser Devan was. He was currently reviewing the accounts, finding out where lost money went, and using the City Watch to get it back. Humfrey Waters had let some of his commanders, now no longer a part of the Goldcloaks, to simply take loans that were never repaid.

It didn't take long for Devan to appear, walking out of the barracks. Lord Tarly or should I say Lord Hand.He bows his head slightly. Well... Ser Kettleback told me how bad this sorry lot was. Utilized my serjeants to kick them into shape for the task of His Grace.The Lannister looks at Tarly. What has the King got you doing these days?

Mace Tyrell had undertaken quite a restoration project on the Tower of the Hand, which I terminated to recoup the costs. The men who accompanied me here today brought a chest of several thousand dragons which should help to pay your men. I promised your predecessor that I would see to the payment, but I am happy to pay that on to you know, especially since I consider you a friend as well as the Lord Commander of the city watch."
