THE BLOODY GATE This imposing stronghold is located southwest of the Eyrie and northwest of the Redfort. There are two long parapets built into the stone of the Mountains of the Moon. The high road, narrow where it meets the gate, is watched over by twin watchtowers, which are joined by a covered bridge of grey stone that arches above the road. Defenders of the gate can fire through arrow slits in the towers, bridge, and battlements. The Bloody Gate can provide respite for at least a few thousand men. The commander of the fortification, the Knight of the Gate, traditionally asks the question, "Who would pass the Bloody Gate?" to all who would pass through. Current Knight of the Bloody Gate: Ser Donnel Waynwood.

After news of the supposed return of Sansa Stark have reached the Riverlands and the Brotherhood without Banners, a lone rider would approach the Bloody Gate, the armour shining in a brilliant deep blue cobalt tone. Armed with a new sword, Brienne of Tarth approached the Bloody Gate on horseback, having continiued her journey through the Riverlands into the Vale catiously. Overall she had come to fullfill her mission, requesting entry into the Vale while wishing to know the whereabouts of its Lord Protector and Lady Sansa Stark, claiming that she came on behalf of House Stark and House Tully.

Ser Donnel Waynwood grants her access to the Vale after telling her Lady Sansa was with Lord Protector Baelish where they could expected to be, at the Gates of the Moon.
