“Maybe it is indeed so. Yet to declare such would mean many would take Stannis Baratheon as their lawful king, a demon worshipping apostate with a sorceress at his side.”
The Septon knelt for a moment in silence, the air filled only with incense and the droning sound of recited prayers. He looked to the King.
“Incest was a crime to which Lady Cersei never confessed and was never tried. If you were to hand over Ser Jaime to the Faith, we could ascertain the truth of these claims. Tommen was crowned and anointed as king. But the Seven work in their own way by sending you to take his place.”

"Stannis will never be permitted to sit the Iron Throne. This very sept would no doubt be razed as an offering. My ancestors raised this holy place, and I will die before I see it despoiled by a usurper and an apostate." Aegon responded resolutely. "I have sent men to find Jaime Lannister, and their orders are to return him to King's Landing. Should they succeed, he will be promptly handed over to the Faith, that I vow." Aegon believed the meeting was going well thus far. "The Crown and the Faith are the joint twin pillars of the Realm." This line seemed rehearsed and memorized. In fact it was, drilled into him by Jon Connington and the half-maester, yet Aegon had no reason to doubt the truth of it. "These are not mere words, they are a truth I believe. I would name you to the Small Council to advise me, Holiness, or should you prefer, any Septon which you may appoint as your representative. I also vow to hold one seat of the Council open to a member of the faith as Royal Septon Councilor - again either to be the High Septon himself or his deputy."

“Most gracious of you.”
The Septon rose, and for a moment stood over the kneeling king.
“I would ask one more thing of you, to seal our concordat. That no more armed men, save the Faith and City Watch, be allowed within the walls of King’s Landing. The presence of so many soldiers within the city is starving the people and causing resentment to your own self, Your Grace.”

"Alas I can make no such promise." Aegon concluded. "I am told several hundred sellswords emerged from the bowels of the Red Keep unexpectantly to steal away almost the entire previous regime. Cersei was careless - I must not be."

The High Septon arched an eyebrow.
“Surely some of the Goldcloaks can be relieved of their duties in the city and sent to the Keep, your Grace? The Faith has adequate numbers to ensure the city is orderly and well defended. As an alternative, I would be more than willing to lend you the services of the Warrior’s Sons to see that our king and queen are made safe within the keep.”
The Golden Company were sellswords, brigands, bandits in mail and plate. They were not made for policing duties and only served to aggravate the populace. But the Septon held his tongue.
“I would turn to the matter of your coronation, Your Grace. There exists another king, crowned and anointed by my own self on behalf of the Seven. I would have Tommen Baratheon renounce his vows and be given to the custody of the Faith before we can proceed; to officially anoint and crown another reigning king would be an affront to the divine and a dangerous blasphemy.”

"Should Tommen be remanded to my custody, it shall be done." Aegon saw the wisdom in that. "Until then, I still have a war to win. Your Warrior's Sons may yet be called to fight. Stannis lies to our north, I am told within the Vale. Should the battle go poorly for us the walls may soon be invested by traitors and apostates."

“Indeed. My duty is to my flock, and I shall do the utmost to keep them safe. I wish you good fortune in the wars to come, Your Grace.”

Willas is admitted past the Warrior’s Sons and into Baelor’s Sept, where he finds the High Septon in prayer with a few similarly dressed prelates. The Lord of Highgarden stood back, waiting for the most holy to finish their prayers. He waited quite a bit before it seemed clear that they were done. Willas approached, the taps from his cane as it hit the stone floor echoing through the sept. HE made a slight bow to the High Sparrow. "Your Holiness, Lord Willas Tyrell stand before you a supplicant on behalf of his family. I humbly request a private audience where we could discuss some personal matters concerning my sister."

“What matters would those be, my child?”
The High Septon rose from before the statue, ragged and dirty from the days work.
“I spoke to the King of the Lady Margaery only recently. Is she well?”

“What matters would those be, my child?” The High Septon rose from before the statue, ragged and dirty from the days work. “I spoke to the King of the Lady Margaery only recently. Is she well?” "To my knowledge she is well, currently the honored guest of House Martell. I've yet to meet with her due to my duties and the threat of war, but by the grace of the Seven peace will unite my family again."Willas' fine green clothes with golden embroidery was quite jarring standing next to the ragged and dirty High Sparrow."The matter at hand concerns my sister's current marriage to Tommen Baratheon, your Holiness. The current chaos in King's Landing and the realm have seen the two ripped apart from each other, unable to satisfy the vows and duties of marriage. That, coupled with the fact that Tommen Baratheon is still a child in the eyes of gods and men, makes their marriage a mockery of the most holy Seven and their laws. Until Tommen Baratheon has reached his age of majority and is able to properly consummate the marriage, their vows said before a septon should be considered moot. As head of House Tyrell, I must consider the well-being of my family, and therefore stand before you today, your Holiness, to humbly request you annul their marriage."

“Perhaps if the young Tommen is brought before me and his safety assured then the marriage may be set aside, such as it is. Either that or the Lady Margaery is brought here to attest her own lack of willingness. It seemed no such issues existed when Tommen was to be the King of the Seven Kingdoms, Lord Willas.”
The Septon replied, with a rueful smile.
“Bring one of the couple to me and I can undo that which has been already done. I can do nothing without them.”

Willas stood in silence for a moment, before simply nodding in response.
"A reasonable request, your Holiness. Once I return with Margaery, we can put this farce of a marriage to an end. By your leave, and may the Seven guide you."
