@lm Lady Waynwood would rise the steps of the Sept. At the top of the steps she would see the High Septon, washing the feet of some poor beggars with a wooden water pail and a horsehair brush. Warriors' Sons stepped forward blocking her guard from approaching further, while the High Septon remained attentive to his simple labors. The old Waynwood noblewoman didn't even try to get closer. She had heard the stories of this High Sparrow and the reformed Faith Militant. She really needed to be careful here. Your Holiness.Anya says before one of the knights proceeds to help her kneel. I am Lady Anya Waynwood of the Vale. I was sent on a specific errand by the Lord Protector, Petyr Baelish, concerning an marriage annulment.

The High Sparrow looked up from the foot he was scrubbing for only a moment, before returning his gaze back toward his efforts. "Baelish." The word rose up like a curse from his throat. "And what marriage does this concern?" He questioned, the last of the hardened mud being scoured from the beggar's foot. His eyes looked toward one of the Septons nearby. "See to it that he is clothed, and fed." With that the High Sparrow rose to his black and gnarled feet, turning toward the Lady, a sour look on his face.

Waynwood rises slowly with the assistance of her knight. The marriage of Tyrion Lannister and Sansa Stark. The old woman stated. The Lord Protector desires to see Lady Stark marry my cousin, and the late Robert Arryn's heir, Harrold Hardyng. For that to happen, an annulment must be granted. Now, would High Sparrow say yes or no? She suspected that the latter would throw Baelish's plans off.

He wiped his bony hands with a rag. "From what I understand Lady Sansa was accused of murdering Joffrey, alongside her husband, Tyrion." Truth be told he cared not for the politics of the Kingdoms, but a leader had to be informed. "And yet now she reappears in the Vale, with another that vanished after the act.. besides some claim Lannister is already dead." He shook his head. "On what grounds does Baelish request this annulment? He is not family to Lady Sansa."

"And yet now she reappears in the Vale, with another that vanished after the act.. besides some claim Lannister is already dead." He shook his head. "On what grounds does Baelish request this annulment? He is not family to Lady Sansa." There was an edict, by the late Hand of the King, Mace Tyrell, absolving her of any associated crime involving the murder of Joffrey Baratheon.Waynwood wondered if this would mean much to the High Septon. After all, it had been issued mere days prior to the death of Lord Tyrell. I do believe the request is in response to my cousin's request for her annulment. Ser Hardyng does not wish to marry another man's wife.At least the boy considered that! The Bronze Royce must have gotten to his head finally. Beyond that, there is no other reason for the request. I know the Lord Protector desires to see the two wed. Perhaps he desires to separate Sansa from a known traitor and murderer. She reflects on what was said by Harrold. I do recall that... my cousin mentioned that Lord Baelish does not believe that Tyrion is dead. He stated that he did not wish for the man to reappear and thus make the future heirs to the Vale become bastards as a result. It would mess up the succession of the Vale.Like it wasn't already messed up.

"Mace Tyrell is dead, Lady Waynwood, and any right to dispense justice with him. You will have to speak with the new King on that matter, but a writ given by a dead man does not cleanse one before the Seven." He waved his right hand dismissively. "I will need valid justification for an annulment, or I cannot provide it. The two were bound before the eyes of the Seven, that is not an easy bond to toss aside - concerns for bastardy or no. If Tyrion has truly died then the marriage passed with him, and lady Sansa and Ser Hardyng are free to wed, but should he return to the living the marriage will be invalid." He thought a moment, plucking at his well trimmed beard ”Has he thought to wed a woman not already pledged?”

Waynwood seemed she'd have to meet with the Targaryen King who ruled over the city now. This would ensure her stay in the city was longer than anticipated. Lord Royce believed Tyrion likely died in the Disputed Lands, her sons and Harrold believed he could have drown in a storm. Not a word had been said from anywhere across the Narrow Sea. However, Tyrion was good at being crafty.
I understand, Your Holiness. I will speak with the King about Lady Stark's crimes.
On the matter of the former marriage.
However, I must note that the marriage was unconsummated. Certainly that gives grounds for invalidity. There is even the possibility that she had little to no choice in the marriage. Likely forced to marry the Imp under pressure and force from the Iron Throne. No consent, unconsummated... Your Holiness, there are holes that could present an annulment.
She'd likely have to explain what happened. Hopefully a maester was educating the young Targaryen.
For a long time, my cousin, Harrold Hardyng, had been a viable candidate for marriage, but only until the arrival of Lord Baelish, as Lord Protector, was a marriage offer truly considered. It was arranged because, before her reveal, she was masquerading as Baelish's bastard daughter. It was a good match considering his wealth and status. Now with her revealed, she is a Stark and also a Tully. Connections with the North and the Riverlands.
And because it wrote off her debt. Harrold agreed, but he had changed his opinion rapidly after what had happened.
I do not believe that Lord Baelish has another in mind besides Lady Stark.

“A lack of consummation would suffice.. though whose word confirms this? Lady Sansa’s, Baelish’s?” He shook his head. “I will not simply accept the word of those with a vested interest in the issue. She would have to be examined and prove it, or have the sworn word of others. Though I do not believe many live that would know such things.” He brought his bony fingers together like a tent, raising an eyebrow. “It seems suspicious that Lady Sansa would be masquerading as Baelish’s daughter in the first place.. if she is innocent why did she flee.. and why did Baelish take her?” His expression quizzical, as if puzzling out some enigma. “I have no stomach for politics, but why is Baelish picking the wife for Lord Arryn.. is he a child, or an invalid?”

Ah, this issue once more.
Lord Baelish was named Lord Protector of the Vale, by the late Lord Tyrell. I suspect he has sent someone to speak with the Targaryen King as news had reached the Vale prior to my departure. He has had a handle on all the affairs of the region for now two years and wishes to ensure the Vale's continued stability.
Lady Waynwood hated this position, considering her personal views of this, but Baelish still had the means to cover her debt.
Ser Hardyng is a young knight of twenty years, but still relatively inexperienced, Your Holiness. He is no Jon Arryn, but he is steps above Robert Arryn. Lord Baelish feels the Vale still needs him at the reins while my cousin gets himself situated as Robert's heir and performs his duties, as a husband, when married, to father an heir for the Vale.
Anya stated plainly.
I am sorry, Your Holiness, but many of those questions are best to be asked to Lord Baelish. I am merely his emissary.

The crowd jostled around, as people pushed for a better view. They were simmering, not listening to the words of Clegane nor those of the proctor. The High Septon however did listen, intently, as his face scrunched up in thought. As Clegane finished his piece, the Septon frowned. There was a long pause as the crowd mumbled their disapproval. "If the brothers of the Quiet Isle attest to your innocence in these crimes.. then I believe them." The crowd gasped in shock, though none would dare question the Voice of the Seven on Earth. He looked at the man's deep scars, inspecting them with his eyes, and inspecting Clegane's heart in the process. "That said, you are still guilty of many other crimes.. by your own admission." He thought another moment, as Warriors' Sons pushed their way around Clegane and the brothers of the Quiet Isle. Standing between the crowd and their would be victims. "I think it fair for you to serve penance for these crimes. To serve the Faith that you once spurned." He announced. "That's what I came all this way to do, Holiness." Sandor replied gruffly with a nod. "I'm no septon, and no ser neither. Can't say I'd be happy to take vows of knighthood and even you will probably have trouble finding a knight who'd want to make a knight out of me anyway. But, I can serve you and the gods alongside a troop of Poor Fellows just fine." He just hoped that whatever ceremony of induction the Sparrows turned Poor Fellows had, it'd be less lengthy and poncey than what the Warrior's Sons would put their recruits through. The proctor, for his part, relaxed slightly as the High Sparrow and Warrior's Sons kept the crowd at bay. Perhaps after all this was sorted out and the Hound formally inducted into the Poor Fellows, he'd finally be able to relay his message to the former.

@chairman The High Septon narrowed his eyes. “Fine then, Lady Waynwood.” He crosses his arms. “I will pray on the matter, in the mean time show me proof of duress or lack of conception, and we can revisit the idea of annulment.”Politburo Barry “Yes, I do not believe any of the Sers here assembled would Knight you. But, there is space among the Poor Fellows for all that would serve the Seven.” He turned to the Grand Captain Ser Wells. “Bring him to the Sept, I will be along shortly.” Ser Wells turned to Sandor. “Follow us.” He said rigidly as the rainbow cloaked knights pushed through the crowd and toward the stairs. As they began to move the High Septon turned toward the proctor. “You said you had news both good and bad, tell me the bad first, so the good might brighten my mood.” He shuffled forward along the cobbled street.

She wasn't gonna wait any longer and even sending a raven would be a tiresome affair. Not one has questioned her maidenhood. She was forced to wed a Lannister and the Imp of all people. If it were any other Lannister, I would even question the duress and lack of conception. But this was the Queen Regent's brother who many knew she disliked. I would not be surprised if both were forced to marry the other.

"The bad news is that soon large-scale fighting in the eastern Riverlands will break out once again, or so anyone who's heard tidings from the North and King's Landing fear." The proctor reported as they made their way away from the crowd. "The people have been mauled badly enough by lions and wolves and all manner of foul beasts between them these past few years, Your Holiness. We have done what we can to alleviate their suffering, Brother Clement was tortured to death while delivering mead to Saltpans - but nothing we do will be enough should the worshipers of trees and demons from the North come down to meet this returned Dragon from the east. The smallfolk cannot take much more of this senseless violence and destruction.""The good news," He added once he'd gotten the bad news out of the way, "Is that for now, the bleeding has stopped and some measure of calm has returned to the eastern Riverlands. Before we left I heard that a new wound is in the process of opening up to the west, where some river-lords have risen for the re-emergent Tullys and others for Harrenhal's master, but around and east of the Gods Eye there has been mercifully little violence for the past year and a half. We and other brothers and sisters in the Faith have been able to get help to the masses without constantly running into brigands of all stripes, for once - indeed, it's only happened once to us this year, on our road here actually, and Clegane dispersed the attackers with ease. If the capital can handle more refugees, there is no better time than now to evacuate as many people as we can reach."Sandor for his part said nothing even when the proctor praised his defense of the pilgrims on the road, instead marching behind Ser Theodan and the Warrior's Sons in stony silence. He did bow his head when passing near any statue of the Seven besides the Stranger, however, as if subconsciously aware that he was not worthy to gaze upon them with his eyes yet.

@lm "A kinslayer, a dwarf, and a foul man he may be, Lady Waynwood. But, Tyrion remains a man before the Seven, I will not hear the word Imp in my presence." The High Septon would judge people off their character, not their appearance, nor their station in life. "These are valid concerns, Lady Waynwood. Provide me with the written testimony of Septas close enough to examine Lady Stark, or provide me with the written word of individuals that can attest to the marriage being coerced. If either claim is true I will annul the vows that bind them. However, I will not accept the word of Sansa nor Baelish alone in this matter." He began walking back toward the Sept, it seemed the High Septon was done speaking on the subject, until such evidence could be produced. Politburo Barry"Foul news, Dragons and Demons fight.. and the Kingdoms burn for it." He sighed deeply in thought, he could not stand Stannis upon the throne, but he knew not what to think of this dragon. "Though it is good that the Seven blessed the lands east of the God's Eye with a small measure of peace for a time. I had hoped to spread the security of the Faith Militant passed Kingslanding, once Cersei's trail had passed.. but the treachery of men has set back the plans of the Seven." He looked up toward the proctor with renewed fervor. "Yes, we must take advantage of this. I will outfit you and as many Septons as will accompany you, you will go north with a thousand Poor Fellows and secure the return of as many refugees as you can. Before this conflict can reignite the Riverlands. The King will ensure they are cared for here, or he will not be anointed by my hand." He turned and began wading through the crowd, back toward the Sept and Clegane. "Prepare to leave as soon as is possible, brother, lives depend on us."

"Understood, Your Holiness." The proctor bows. "The Smith and the Warrior never rest so long as there's work to be done and defenseless smallfolk to protect; thus, neither shall we." He suspected this order would be a good test for the Hound as well, as his first righteous deed when reborn as a Poor Fellow.
Sandor, meanwhile, wordlessly moved to kneel once more as the High Septon approached. He had no idea how Poor Fellows were made, but knew well enough that men usually bent the knee when swearing oaths of loyalty to a new master.
