House of the Praefectus Urbanus ![]()  With the office of Praefectus Urbanus originating from the regal period, it goes without saying that the post is an important and ancient duty for one to carry. With the ascension of the Empire, Augustus has again elevated the post into the magistracy. The seat of the Urban Cohortes finds itself located upon the Oppian hill. The duty of the Praefectus include to maintain public order in the city itself, Ostia and a zone of 140 kilometers around the eternal city. The Praefectus thus effectively acts as a quasi-mayor.

Cassius' son is allowed an audience after he is thoroughly inspected for any hidden weapons. He would soon notice the many cohorts inside the house guarding everything.

Guards were never far away, to the son of Cassius it must be plainly obvious that Sabinus was increasingly paranoid.
