He gave her a warm smile.
"Of course, my lady. When we finally know peace again, the Seven Kingdoms will sing songs of the feast held in our honor."

Talla Tarly had spent the last several weeks in intermittent worry and outright fear after news of Mace Tyrell's death and Aegon's ascension to the throne, as well as the rumors of her own father's involvement in such events. The nights she and her husband had spent together had largely passed without too much conversation, and certainly none that mentioned either of those events. She had spent as much time as she could with their new daughter, a beautiful child who was already a bright spot in her life. However, as time passed, her husband was yet to broach the topic himself, nor had he turned his hand or even a harsh word against her. Bolstered by this thought, she eventually sought him out as he sat at his writing desk one day.

With the constant threat of the Ironborn, the garrison at Highgarden had swelled to thousands of loyal men from all across the Reach. The guards at the door were at first hesitant to let Talla pass, but ultimately bowed to the Lady of Highgarden. Willas was deep in thought that day as he bent over the letters and documents of the day, Maester Lomys by his side. Despite the war and its daily reports, life continued on as usual with pleas, missives and disputes from across the region. Even before his lord father's demise, Willas had taken on more and more responsibility as Mace Tyrell's focus shifted from his home to the royal capital.
When he finally noticed his wife, Willas gave her a pleasant smile and put away his quill and seal. Maester Lomys understood the signal and left the young couple to themselves in Lord Tyrell's solar. As the door shut behind the maester, Willas rose from his seat and walked over to give her a hug.
"My dear, how wonderful to see you today. Thank the Seven you came, I needed an excuse for a break. Hopefully Lomys will be busy in with his flowers for the next hour or so. So what's on your mind, my dear?"

"Good afternoon My Lord. I simply thought it might be good to talk about... well... some of the events that have transpired recently." Talla offered a small curtsy before crossing the distance to her husband. "I've just laid Catherine down to rest with the wet nurse watching over him, and I thought it might be good to talk. I don't know if you've really taken the time to... well, mourn since your father's passing. You've been so hard at work ever since then."

Willas turned towards the window in his office, looking out over the flower fields around Highgarden. He seemed deep in thought, with a deep sadness in his hazelnut eyes.
"I've... tried to put it off until the war is over and my family is back together again. It wouldn't be right until Garlan, Loras and Margaery can attend the vigil for my father. We're Tyrell after all, and nothing matters as much to Tyrells than family. Keeping myself busy helps to... focus the mind, in the meantime. And the joy of you and Catheryne brings peace to my soul. But... sooner or later I will have to face reality, and those responsible for the murder of my father and his loyal banners. People he trusted, who swore an oath to serve... people who now supposedly serve me."
There was anger in his voice now, however much he tried to suppress it.

Talla moved up alongside him, joining her husband in gazing out the window. "The news from the capital all seems so frightening now, and everything is moving so quickly... I am sorry about your father, and for..." she realized she could not bring herself to mention her own father's new role in the capital, and the part he may have played in the loss in the kingswood, "Fir everything you've had to endure. You are a strong man my lord."

A raven arrives from King's Landing
Lord Tyrell,
I have heard news of your stunning victory in Oldtown. It gladdens me to see that the Ironborn has been driven off. However, the war is not over. Bring your men into the field in support of our armies marching to the Riverlands.

Queen Arianne, in the absence of the king, summons Lord Willas to the capital to take a seat on the Small Council as Master of Laws.

Catheryne was as bright as the sun and stars, and the gleam in her eyes reminded him of his grandmother and his sister."Thank you, my love. I know this must be trying for you as well. Do not worry, once this war is over I will have a long discussion with your lord father. Seven willing, I will come to learn and understand what brought him to... his decision."His grandmother had cursed the Lord of Horn Hill more than once to Willas in private. She had implored him to take action against his bannerman, overtly or covertly, and he wondered if he had the spirit for it. At Talla's last remark, he chuckled a litte."Oh I assure you, my love, I am not a strong man. My siblings are far stronger than I, but it is my duty to carry the burden of leading our house in these trying times. Only with the support of my loving family can I persevere and do what must be done."

My father has always been a hard man, but not unreasonable, I am sure that it was thought out." At his next words, she finally cracked a smile. "You are strong in my eyes, my love, stronger than any man I have known. The fact that the world sees your brothers and sister as more impressive only further convinces me that they don't know you as I do. I am happy always to be here at your side and support you."
