"GODS PISS ON THOSE POOR SHIT TRAITORS"
Cinna yelled from behind his desk, slamming multiple times on his desk with his fist. The desk nearly broke in pieces.
"HOW CAN THESE ASSHOLES LEVY THAT MANY TRAITORS TO OUR CAUSE?!!!!!
Cinna's ranting knew no boundaries at the moment. What a glorious march to relieve the siege Aesernia should have been turned into a siege.
"Now that sly fox of a cousin will attempt to exploit this miserable situation. No doubt he will set up the senate against me"
Cinna looked to a map that a centurion presented to him. After he calmed down the one-eyed consul weighed his options.
"We are safe here in Naples, the walls of the city and port are thick, they will not attempt to storm it. As long as we hold the port we are fine"
However, Cinna was not here to stay on the defensive. He needed a big military victory to overshadow his cousin.
"Bring Fimbria from our sacred city and let him raise legions from my purse, as well as gather whatever allies Rome has left"
The consul pointed out to a certain place on the map. If Fimbria could gather enough men outside Naples he could come to attack the Italians from behind and Cinna would then sally out.
"I will write Sertorius as well for his veterans, that should be enough to relieve us from the siege. Pray to the gods all goes well."

With the Roman forces under siege, Cinna attempts to recruit men from the city to bolster their ranks. He promises them citizenship once the war is over and a good salary. A thousand or so men, lightly armed and armoured, come to aid Cinna defend their city. They would prove little match for legions in a straight fight, however.

Bruttian campaign
"Get the men ready, they have had their well-deserved rest. I mourn for the death of their brother in arms but we will avenge them"
One-eyed Cinna said, whose right arm was packed in bandages from the wounds he suffered during the last few battles. He would certainly pray to Mars for the survival of his legionaries. It was almost certain that they would have all died if they had remained in Neapolis. "We will punish the Bruttii for their support of the thraitors, their towns are an easy target for us, they are isolated from their other allies and their fighters are with this papius in Campania. Their involvement in this treason will end here and now in their lands."
Cinna smashed his desk, enraged by the near catastrophe that had happaned in Campania. He ordered the military tribunes to ready their man so that they could march to Petelia. Perhaps one of the bigger villages of the Bruttians in Bruttium. Cinna hoped the capture of that settlement would have the other Bruttian settlements in the regions reconsider their involvement in the war. OOC: Cinna and his legions siege and surround Petelia (look on the map i posted in discord). Cinna asks for the town to surrender. ------------------------- After the refusal (as per Gandy's roll) Cinna builds battering rams, siege towers, and ladders (6 hours)

"Romans attack!"
Cinna would shout to his assembled men before the town of Petelia. The town was given the opportunity to surrender peacefully but the fools had decided to resist an overwhelming force. They would have to pay for their folly.
"For Mars and the republic"
Cinna shouted, he would be the first one to storm the city.
ooc: + 10 due to equipment i guess (not sure if siege towers are even needed for this small tpwn)

However, they were too late to save Petelia. The garrison puts up a good fight, though, causing the Romans to lose 590 legionaries. 7000 is looted from the town.

Cinna sends missives to the other Bruttian towns in the region, they ask to surrender peacefully so that there will be no further bloodshed.
-------------------------------------
"Roma, Roma!"
The Roman soldiers yelled as they swarmed all over the town when they breached the gates. Though they had suffered some casualties it mattered little in the end. With the battle won, Cinna allowed his men to do their "things". It was their deserved reward for weeks of non-stop campaigning.
"Send a message to the other towns that rebelled in Bruttium, they shall suffer the same fate as Petelia if they do not surrender. Tell them if they surrender that they will be spared this fate."
With the riders send off to the other Bruttian towns, Cinna would indulge himself with the worst possible vices with his men. Soon drinking and feasting would take place all during the night.

The Bruttians refuse surrender after merely one loss, but Cinna learns that their people have retreated into the hills. The Romans also hear that the Bruttians have called for help from their Consuls.

The Bruttians conduct a guerrilla campaign, constantly remaining on the move and denying Cinna any prospect of battle or siege. The Romans, not as familiar with the territory, struggle to give chase effectively.

Cinna offers 25 OOO denarii to those that exactly locate the Bruttians and hold them up for long enough so that the Romans may catch up to their foes.

Some local tribesmen loyal to Rome take Cinna up on his offer. The Bruttians are very nearly caught by the ploy of Cinna, the Romans digging them out of their hiding holes with the benefit of new information. However, with only a limited control of the region, there was little that the Consul could do without being led on a merry chase around the mountains for the majority of the year. They simply disappear, having the benefit of local knowledge and being a smaller, more manoeuvrable group.

Cinna goes to Cosentia (cosenza), capital of the Bruttians, to besiege it. The legions will build rams, siege towers and ladders (+10) to storm the city as soon as they're ready.

"Romans, attack"
Cinna would order his legionaries to attack the Bruttian capital. With only a garrison in the capital, the Romans expected little resistance. Like usual Cinna was in front of his troops, imploring them to follow him in the attack.
"The Bruttians will feel Roman steel today!"
When Cinna drew his blade the legionaries advanced to the enemy capital.
