Sicilia: NPC
Crete: NPC
Cyrene: Lucius Menenius Lanatus
Events:
- The Italic Allies have declared independence, established a capital at Corfinium, and have begun sending armies to besiege Roman colonies inside their claimed territory. The Consuls must co-ordinate the war effort as the Senate scrambles to prevent the Latins from being enticed to join this new confederation.
- The Palatine Hill is still largely bare after five years of slow reconstruction. A concerted effort must be undertaken to rebuild the lost houses of Rome's nobility.
- After shortages of grain in Sicily, a famine is predicted to take place the next year if the grain supply is not properly addressed. The strain of the grain dole on the Roman state is tremendous.
Provincial Events:
- After suffering heavy losses against the Romans in the Cimbrian war and the recent conflict with Metellus, the Helvetii tribe, under pressure from Germanic expansion, have upped sticks and began migrating into central Gaul. The balance of power in the region is in chaos.
- In Cisalpine Gaul, most of the concern is directed southwards, with some of northern Italy having defected to the rebels. Many wonder if those that live in Etruria will soon follow should the war take a turn for the worse.
- Cyrene is largely at peace, with a friendly Egypt to the east and Africa to the west. However, the Bedouin nomads have been causing more than a little trouble lately on the borders of the province, raiding caravans and villages at will.
Agendas:
Optimates:
- Prosecuting those that pushed for Italic citizenship
- Strengthening Senatorial power
- Eliminating the grain dole
- Weakening the Tribunate
- Defeating the Italians
Populares:
- Land reform to benefit poorer urban citizens
- Debt cancellation
- Preserving the grain dole
- Preserving the Tribunate
- Defeating the Italians
NOTE: All posts in the Curia should instead be made in the Curia-Hostilia channel on the discord.
