Following the victory of Lepidus against the Boii invaders and Sulla's great victory against the Pontic tyrant, games were organized by the Aedile Decianus to lighten up the mood of Rome's citizens, considering the political turbulences as of late. The games were planned for about ten days. The first games included chariot races from many different factions. After the races, gladiator games were organized, although the gladiators wore of course no real weapons as that is prohibited by the ancient laws of the pomerium.
All citizens of Rome were allowed to attend. Wine and food were offered to all those that are present to watch the game. Many speeches were made by the Aediles to lighten up the mood of the citizens. It surely is an event to remember given the large amount of denarii spend on everything.
