To commemorate the victory of the Republic over Saturnine tyranny, Q.C.M Pius ordered that a temple to Liberty be consecrated and built on the Palatine Hill, atop the demolished remains of Saturninus' home. While only a small building for the present, it is rumoured that the Pontifex Maximus plans to expand it into a far larger complex once he has the funds to do so. Constructed in the year of Pius' Aedileship, in the Consulship of Sulla Felix and Fabius Maximus Atellus.

"Hail, Libertas, patron of our freedom. May your favour ever shower our city."
Hailed the Pontifex Maximus, clad in the regalia of his office; the austere toga, the veiled hood, the sacred red shoes of the old kings. So too did he wield in hand his rod of augury, displaying the rare honour he held of holding seats in both of the sacred colleges. Metellus Pius stood as a supplicant before the statue of the Goddess, sporting her iconic sacred cap, that had been erected within the marble columns of his own temple. Built atop the rubble of his rival, the arch-enemy of republican freedoms and ancient virtue, to consecrate this shrine felt like the greatest of victories. It served as a reminder, also, of vigilance. The crimson river that now flowed from the throat of the sacrificial lamb could just as easily become the lifeblood of Rome itself, draining away at the hands of tyranny. Still, the young Pontifex Maximus allowed himself a moment of small celebration as he took stock of the future. There were still games to be held, building projects to oversee, and the chance to further cement his growing reputation while overseeing the duties of his office.
