Servilius quibbled.
“Why not one of your own allies, good Tribune? My father is in ill health, and is in retirement away from the city. Furthermore, I doubt he would approve of your… methods.”

"You are right"
Saturninus replied, old Vata was not an option with his poor health.
"I think I have it, Lucius Valerius Flaccus"
He was known to be a Marian supporter and easy to influence.

Saturninus wishes to negotiate an end to the bloodshed too, though he requests to meet at the feet of the capitoline Hill. He proposes that both Saturninus and Crassus may take each ten bodyguards for safety. All troops and bodyguards shall be placed out of sight to make negotiations less intimidating and more in a friendly atmosphere.
---
With Flaccus being sworn in as Consul suffectus, Saturninus wishes to have the senate elect a new Aedile Suffectus as Appius Claudius has fled the city. He proposes Lucius Cornelius Cinna as Aedile. He also proposés that his kinsman Gaius appuleius Decianus be made legate of Legio V.

A decision is eventually made and, with it, Lucius Atilius Regulus makes his appearance to this gathering, led by Saturninus and Vitulus. There was little that was heard and done out at the Fields of Mars. So, the Roman decided it was best to rejoin the city and his colleagues. The power seemed to lie here rather than out there. There was rumor of legions approaching, but Lucius felt it was best to throw his support behind this bloc.

He proposes that both Saturninus and Crassus may take each ten bodyguards for safety. All troops and bodyguards shall be placed out of sight to make negotiations less intimidating and more in a friendly atmosphere. The proposal is accepted; the two shall negotiate on neutral ground at the foot of the hill, under the auspices of Concord and Juno. Consul Crassus arrives escorted by the lictors of his office and garbed in his toga of office. He and a few other high ranking Senators had made their abode in the Temple of Jupiter, where they had been holding Senate meetings of their own. "Tribune Saturninus. I have come in good faith to discuss terms of amnesty so that order might be returned to our Republic."

"Salve Regulus"
Saturninus greeted the praetor, he looked quite surprised. From the few conversations he held with Regulus he never could guess where his loyalties lay with.
"It is good that you have come in these grave times"
Saturninus was alone as Vitulus was sent south to convince Legio V to join their cause.

"Salve Consul"
Saturninus greeted Crassus, perhaps something could be worked out. He seemed a pragmatic man.
"I indeed wish nothing more than to end violence and return to proper governship"
Saturninus replied, hoping to make something from these negotiations.

"They will probably come from the south seeing as they come from Sicily" Saturninus logically explains. It made the most sense for the legion to March. "The biggest city south of Rome is Naples so I would guess they would take that road. Saturninus replied, his toga covered entirely by dirt and ash. "Convince their legate by every means possible, bribery if must from what is left from our treasury. Promise him a political role or something" Saturninus suggested, he didn't really remember him the name of their commander. "If that is not possible try to have the legions mutiny, remind them of our reforms and promise them coloniae for their role in Sicily if must be" "I shall do so." Vitulus picks out a small cadre of followers and makes his way out of the city, making his way south in order to find the legions.

”You shall disband your armed men and slaves, and I shall do the same. As a gesture of goodwill I shall extend upon you amnesty for a period of ten days. This will allow you to leave Rome before the Consuls arrive and have you arrested. With any good fortune you shall be able to leave Italia with your life and perhaps plead clemency a few years hence.”
Saturninus had broken nearly every law the Republic held sacred; inciting a revolt against the Senate, bearing weapons in the Pomerium, and organising armed attacks against Roman citizens. Exile was perhaps the best he could hope for.

"Consul Mugillanus has fled Rome has reportedly abandoned his duties"
Saturninus exactly knew where Mugillanus is, though he kept that secret. Soon his new recruited forces would be to get to him.
"I will think about it, I need some time to think about it all"
Saturninus needed time for news from Vitulus and the legions.

He looks behind for a moment before turning to the fellow Roman. I have come to offer my support. The rally at the Fields of Mars is... nothing more than a vain attempt. They have no real power to do as they wish. Rome will see peace when this is over and by those who actually hold the reins of governance.

"Very good, capable men such as yours are always needed."
Saturninus replied, he had not expected Regulus' support. He smiled before he talked further.
"I have recruited a cavalry force, perhaps you could command them to arrest Mugillanus at the fields of Mars"
Saturninus asked of Regulus, he placed a hand on his shoulder. A much needed ally perhaps.
"He should be put before a trial for illegitimately voiding laws and denying the voice of the people in the senate"

I shall see what can be done.
Regulus remarks back at being granted a command over the cavalry.
Yet, I hear rumors of legions near Rome. Is it wise to use your precious cavalry in such a bold move? They would be without the support of professional soldiers.
