The game begins in 314 AL with a summit in Oldtown, called by the High Septon and Lord Hightower to mediate the ongoing War for Highgarden between Tarly, Redwyne and Storm that has raged on rather indecisively.
Tarly is the favoured candidate of much of the nobility, playing on the respect of his father and his status as the head of the 'anti Tyrell' faction in the previous war. Redwyne holds Highgarden itself, and has a powerful fleet to back his claim and the support of some coastal lords. They also have Tyrell blood. Storm has no legitimate claim to speak of, but he holds Sarra Tyrell, the legal heir of Lord Willas, as well as a small army of mercenaries.
Meanwhile, an army of peasants has begun gathering under Jon Manderwynd to enforce the Seven Ordinances, laid down by the Commons Council of Oldtown. These Seven Ordinances would prove to be a serious dent in the power of the feudal lords, and go as follows:
In terms of starting forces, all lords shall begin with their full levies raised. Once the levy sizes have been calculated, this thread will be edited with the proper numbers. Edric Storm will begin with a small army of mercenaries, and the Faith of the Seven will likewise have their Faith Militant armed and prepared for war.

{The Seven Ordinances}1: No Free Man may be held in bondage or serfdom by another for any purpose, save for their binding loyalty to the King.
2: No Free Man may be forced to work without pay and sustenance.
3: No Free Man may be forced to spill blood for another, the ultimate sacrilege. Violence between Free Men is prohibited unless sanctioned by the King or the Gods themselves.
4: No Free Man may be denied the right to hold assembly with his peers for any purpose, a right enshrined to all subjects of the King.
5: The King is defender of the Seven Gods holy faith, and all loyal and leal subjects must follow this Faith.
6: By will of the Gods, all heathens are declared anathema, and outside the protection of the laws of Gods and Men. All Free Men and loyal subjects are encouraged to do them harm.
7: In the absence of any reigning king, the High Septon, voice of the Seven Gods on Earth, shall exercise regal power as the Blessed Protector of the Realm.
