Centred around the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the eponymous town is the centre of Garcia’s Kingdom of Galicia. A realm of mountains and hills on the western fringes of the wealthier Leon, Galicia nonetheless has the distinction of housing the remains of Saint James the Great, a prominent site of pilgrimage for all good Christians. Whilst the original church was largely destroyed half a century ago by the Caliph of Córdoba, the remains were undisturbed and the king plans to build a new site to solidify his prestige and standing amongst the fractious Iberian realms.
