The heart of the Golden Tooth stands resolute upon the plateau of Leo's Ridge, three mighty towers of hewen stone built by Andal masons when the passage between the fertile lands of the Trident and the gold-rich hills of the westerlands was no safer than a battleground. As the wealth of the hills drew into the Tooth, more structures arose, until Leo's Ridge and its neighbours were awash with stout towers linked by walls and stone bridges such that a man need scarce touch earth passing from the base of the hill to its opposite.
And flying high from each and every one of those towers by which the westerlands were made safe from foreign advance, was the gold and blue of House Lefford.
