DARRY
Darry is is near the ruby ford. There is good hunting along a nearby river, the Darry, which gives name to the keep and the honor and lordship of Darry.
The castle is old and storied, but not large: the ruling family always had greater honor and respetability than true wealth. Plowman's Keep is the central building where the Darrys have their apartments. The lord's bedchamber, which contains Myrish carpet -an old thing from times past, when Dragons ruled-, sits at the top of the keep and its window overlooks the godswood. The lady's bedchamber adjoins the lord's with a servant's cell between. There are vaults beneath Plowman's Keep that once housed great wealth, but were long plundered. The Great Hall is not particularly large. The trestle tables are packed between the walls.
Darry's sept is just off the castle's inner ward. It is a half-timbered, seven-sided building with no windows. It has carved wood doors and a tiled roof.
The keep and lordship were of the Darrys, men and women of the Plowmen, but they died off in the male line and their lands were granted to ser Lancel Lannister, who was married to Amerei Frey, half a Darry herself, to assuage the smallfolk and the vassals sworn to those settled at the keep. However, the new lord gave up lands and honors and joined the Faith. Ever since, the castle has been on the hands of Harwyn 'Hardstone' Plumm, who controls both the keep and the lordlings within it, including Amerei -who's pretty much in love with him-, her mother and sister, Mariya Darry and Marissa Frey. 'Red' Walder Frey, ward and squire of Lucion Lannister, was granted the castle in order to support the said man's pretense to place Martyn Lannister -the heir apparent as heir general of Lord Tytos Lannister- as Lord of the West and Casterly Rock. Walder ordered a new quarter to be added to his arms, a plowman, for Darry, and adopted the old livery badge of the plough as his; device he uses alongside the tower of Frey and the Lion of Lannister.

Biography:
Emmon Frey had the misfortune of marrying a lioness, one that was half his age when they wed, many years past. Not only he got a woman who was twice the man he would ever be, but a brother-in-law that delighted torturing him with many a jape and slight. The fact that a second son of a second-rate house had married a Lannister was source of ribald and jokes from Lannisport to Gulltown and back. Emmon endured them in silence, bowing his balding head to his in-law Tywin, to his wife, Genna and whoever treaded on him. The only kind soul he ever met at that den of beasts was poor Tytos Lannister, who even remembered Emmon on his last will, handing him a patch of land to cover his expense and pardoning debts over Genna’s jewellery.
They had four sons. Lady Genna was too smart of let herself be pregnant by a hedge knight or a random bannerman with a strong jaw and a flat belly –particularly since Tywin had little patience for such things and abhorred infidelity and promiscuity-, but, she let everyone talk about how Ser Emmon would be unable to bed her and conceive any sons by her. By allowing the rumors about the paternity of her own children to grow, she eroded his reputation, while the fact that he is so intimidated by his own wife means there is little near none damage done to her own standing, because Emmon is far too cowardly to challenge her face-to-face. That her children were such a disappointment speaks volumes about who her father could be, plus some of them have the unmistakable weasel-looks of the Frey, whose pernicious blood watered down even that of the Lioness. Cleos was well-intentioned, kind-hearted and some kind of loveable failure, Lyonel was thick of brawn and scarce of brains, Tion was bold but as smart as his older brother and, well, Walder, born the last, was as close to Cleos as anyone could be, as often happens with the youngest child. Of those, half were killed during the war, one by accident –Cleos’ horse being responsible for dragging his head through the dirt- and another by vengeful daggers –Tion was slaughtered alongside his cousin Willem Lannister by none other than Karstark. Even if flawed Genna mourned her sons’ death, for the Lioness were nothing but fierce with their cubs, even if they were more domestic cats than true lions of the Rock.
Walder was named Walder because he shares a birthday with the patriarch and Emmon thought that was a good way to honouring his father: most likely, the Late Lord of the Crossing did not give as much as a fart about his twentieth grandson or so and the tenth to bear his name. Since there is a score of Walders and Walders Frey on top of that, the youngest son of Genna was nicknamed the Red, rather aptly, for he’s kind of auburn haired –a trait probably inherited from his grandmother Jeyne Marbrand- and also, most importantly, has a quartered coat of arms with the Lion of Lannister, gold on red. The young man has a thin face, flyway auburn hair, a prominent apple on his throat and a rather lower than average height: it seems even more scarce when one considers how little meat he has on his bones; a fact that is unlikely to change.
Considering he’s the last son of the second son of Lord Walder and the ample brood of Freys before him to inherit both Riverrun and the Twins he is as important as just another courser in the fabled stables of Lord Ryswell. To give him some occupation he serves as a page in Casterly Rock and is squire to Lucion Lannister, a distant cousin of the main branch of golden-haired lords. It is unknown if he will even gain his spurs, for he is rather clumsy with lance and sword –he fights like a goose- and not even the best rider, precisely. Only his birth, as cousin to the Queen Dowager and the other Lannister, makes sure he has food at the table and a roof on top of his stringy hair. However, he has something to make up for his shortcomings, he has a true heart of gold -even if he is whiny and annoying at times-, something his brother Lyonel bullies him for. He used to have a playmate in his nephew Tywin Frey, with whom he shares a solid friendship.
The fall of the Lannister-Tyrell regime became apparent in 301 AC. Shortly after, the city of King's Landing was taken by a pretender, Aegon of House Targaryen, who proclaimed himself to be Aegon VI, long-lost heir of Rhaegar Targaryen. The Rock was left without clear leadership or heir, with Tommen all but gone, kidnapped by bandits, and Myrcella in Dorne. Unable to fill the void the remaining Lannisters squabbled. Walder took the opportunity and brokered Darry to be handed down to him by his warden, ser Lucion Lannister, arguing that Martyn would have little need of the Riverlander castle if he was to become Lord of the Rock. The title of lord of Darry, even if tenous at best, would give Walder a stronger hand in negotiating a match for himself, one that would be hugely benefitial and down the road enough to reclaim Darry proper for himself. He added a quarter in his personal arms, a plowman, for Darry, and took the plough as a livery badge alongside the twin bridged towers of Frey and the lion of Lannister. Soon thereafter was known in the West that Riverrun had fallen, his family presumed death or captive save for Tywin and Willem, that could turn heels and seek shelter at the Rock.
Walder was granted Darry by Lord Edmure, after a rocky meeting that started with the young Frey thrown to a dark cell, he was to take the family surname and marry Amerei Frey, his cousin, who was half-a-Darry herself. After sacking the Twins and offering shelter to scores of his kinsmen and kinswomen, he claimed the castle of Darry and the very same day wed and bedded his cousin Gatehouse Ami. Now, he was lord of his own castle and had been spared the sad fate that likely awaited all the Frey that remained in the Twins. The shame was being unable to claim such a fine castle to himself...
