Lannister follow the procession into the keep as well. Only Ser Lorch was present with him as entered the Red Keep.

As they passed through the King’s Gate, following the waterfront, they could see many poor fellows dressed in rough spun wool, with a seven pointed star the color of blood upon their breasts. Visenya’s Hill and the south-western portion of the city were crawling with Stars. However, the Poor Fellows did not act, unless provoked by actions against the populace. Rough, old, broken, and young faces among them, both men and women, with hard eyes and dirty hands. Their numbers had continued to grow, in the chaos that followed the attack upon the Red Keep there had been no shortage of people wanting to serve the Faith.
The High Septon remained up in Baelor’s Sept atop the hill. Messengers arrived to request his presence for the new king. The High Septon turned his mud brown eyes on the messenger. “Tell the.. King he is welcome to see me here.” His voice was measured calm, and with that the messengers were ushered back out of the Sept and toward the Red Keep.
The High Septon was confused, or more so disappointed. Tarly, Lannister, many more, they all betrayed their oaths and their kin. Little honor was left among the nobility, little faith. But, it seemed the city would not be sacked, this was a good thing. He knew the Faith would not.. could not sacrifice their authority to the Targaryens again. And so the High Septon waited, busying himself passing out the grain at the foot of the Great Sept’s stairs. He needed to ensure food kept coming from the Reach, the city would starve without Tyrell’s help defeated or not.

Aegon made his way to the Red Keep with his entourage and dismounted his stand steed, helping Arriane from her horse. He made his way to the throne-room and climbed to the top of the Iron Throne. He stood for a moment. No Targaryen had sat in this chair since his grand-sire. King Scab they called him behind his back, if Jon Connington could be believed. His silvery hair shimmered and moved sofly with the drafts from the hall. There was a faint chill in the smell of the salt air and the humidity from the sea was still palpable.
"Today marks a day of restoration for the Seven Kingdoms. The Realm has bled for many years over the claims of different Kings from the North to the south. Many thousands have perished, and many more might unless the Realm unites around its rightful King. I am the son of Rhaegar, the son of Aerys II. My claim is superior and clear to any others, who must now renounce their claims to the Iron Throne and once again enter the King's peace. Stannis, Greyjoy, Lannister, and Baratheon must kneel before the Dragon, as it was in days past." He put his hand on Blackfyre's hilt. "Any who do not will face the wrath of House Targaryen."
He lets the words hang in the air, and finally sat, taking notice of those who stood closest to him. "Tarly, Lannister, come forward." The King Commanded.

Devan looks at the throne from where he stood. It felt odd to have a claimant upon the throne who wasn't a puppet of Cersei or a child. Maybe things could improve from here on out. He had willingly betrayed Cersei and the royal family, in the end, for the sake of his own ambitions and in the hopes that Westermen wouldn't be wasted on the previously foolish feud between Cersei and Mace. As Lannister began to wonder what was the fate of Mace Tyrell, he heard his name, and that of Lord Tarly, being called forth to come before the Iron Throne. Was he making the right decision being here? Time would tell.
Ser Devan walked out from where he stood and made his way to stand before the Iron Throne. Quietly, he bent the knee before Aegon Targaryen.
Your Grace.
He says through his thick beard.

"I did not know your name Ser, before I crossed the Narrow Sea. You are kin of the Queen Cersei, and Tommen the Pretender. You have bent your knee to me but you have also turned your cloak. How do I know you will not do the same to me when it serves your purpose?" Aegon sized the man up, looking for any sign of mendacity.
----
Jon Connington drew close to the King, and whispered in his ear that the High Sparrow had refused his invitation. He narrowed his eyes in suspicion at the news. He had seen the High Sparrow's men and his mind went back to his history and the problems of the Faith Militant. It seemed he had inherited his ancestral throne and his ancestral problems in one stroke.

How do I know you will not do the same to me when it serves your purpose?" Aegon sized the man up, looking for any sign of mendacity. I am Devan Lannister, sire. My father, Stafford, was a cousin of the late Tywin, father of Queen Cersei. The Westerman stated, giving a small explanation of his ties with the former Queen and those who had committed the crimes against the Targaryens. The Westerlands have little means to fight. We have bled across the Riverlands and the Crownlands. Prior to your arrival, I was ordered by the Queen to fight Mace Tyrell, but then he had the security of the walls. I decided to not be a fool and heeded the words of Lord Tarly. He convinced me that it was better to serve an adult king, not a child controlled by a puppeteer.Keeping his head bowed, Devan speaks further. Those who betrayed your grand-sire and father are dead or exiled. In a ways, I view myself as a clean slate, a clean start for House Lannister. I am a soldier, a commander, Your Grace. I do not have the brains of Tywin to consider betrayal. I wish to serve a King who would heed wiser advice. Not one who is kept locked away and his name used to stamp decrees.Ser Lannister concluded with a few simple words. I am here to serve as a loyal vassal. But your word will be the law. I will be called a turncoat, but I feel that this is the right decision.

"Will you see the Lady Myrcella placed upon Casterly Rock's seat, as is her right, Ser Devan?"
Arianne called down from her perch at the King's side, seated on an ad-hoc throne of her own.
"If you were to do so, I am sure that would help convince my lord husband of your loyalty."
The Queen glanced sideways at her husband, a hint of expectancy in her darkened eyes.

Thank the Seven his face was lowered. The words of Arianne made him grit his teeth beneath his beard. Again, Devan was being denied what he viewed as his right! Damnable slithering Martells.
She is a Baratheon, Your Grace. Only a Lannister could rule Casterly Rock.
Devan states the fact first, then decides to add a bit more.
However, I believe I could ensure that right if I could continue to serve as Warden of the West. She will need a regent in order to ensure her lands are maintained until she is of age to rule on her own. Especially given that she was sent to Dorne. I could ensure that the nobility are convinced of this decision.

Aegon shared a glance with Arrianne, this lion was a runt of the litter indeed. "You will be given the opportunity to prove yourself, Ser. You will be one of my captains, to head north and force the Riverlords to bend the knee. House Tully is to be restored to their lands and titles if they bend the knee, it not they will be attainted and I will find more loyal men to occupy their keeps and offices. I also hear confusing reports from the Vale. This problem I intend to solve myself. As for Stannis Baratheon, he will likewise be given the opportunity to bent the knee and be confirmed as the Lord of Storm's End. Should he refuse, he will likewise be attainted and his lands and titles stripped in favor of more loyal men." He had done much thinking on the road. "But this is not even where the problems end, I am told. A pirate holds Dragonstone along with the Pretender Tommen, his mother, and half of their Kingsguard. This is a more complex issue. I am told that Cersei's issue are bastards born of incest with the Kingslayer - a monstrous accusation if true, yet it remains unproven. I had hoped the High Septon would advise me as to his thoughts, but he has refused my invitation to the Red Keep, which, of course, has created another problem for the Crown." Aegon smiled, and as he did a maiden's heart might melt. "As you can see, Ser Lannister, I have many problems with which you might prove your loyalty by solving. We are not yet ready to divide up the spoils of a half concluded war. We are still at war, we must not celebrate too early."

The Queen kept her silence for now, showing little emotion as her husband passed his judgement. The misrule of the Lannisters had indeed left Aegon with many issues to overcome, and he would need her counsel - he knew the battlefield, but not the court.

'Prove yourself,' thought Devan. He had proved himself to Tywin Lannister, to Cersei Lannister, and nothing came to him.
There are always problems, Sire. And my royal cousin did much to ensure that there were lasting ones.
Lannister had no choice. Going away from King's Landing would ensure the Westerlands were alone. Tommen was captured and there was no way to gain him.
I will do my utmost to prove myself. Give me a command and I will see it through.

"Tell me what you know of this High Sparrow." The King commanded "As well as the circumstances of Tommen's capture. Have you received any ransom demands?"

"Tell me what you know of this High Sparrow." The King commanded "As well as the circumstances of Tommen's capture. Have you received any ransom demands?" I know little of High Sparrow, for I have not been in the capital long, though I have met him.Devan responds truthfully. He has a care for the people and seeing no innocent blood spilled. He is a zealot, in my views. It will take an experienced hand to convince him.Lannister did not know too much. Others were better suited to know him, like Varys. There was someone who was sent to us. The day prior, Ser Osmund Kettleback, a member of Tommen's Kingsguard, came to King's Landing and spoke with Lord Tarly and myself. He was among the other Kingsguard and members of the court that were captured alongside Tommen. However, Your Grace, when we began to learn details, he said that you were behind the kidnapping. Ser Kettleback said that the sellswords, who kidnapped them, made mention of you as the dragon of the south as their employer. Aurane Waters, supposedly, freed him from those pirates in your supposed service.Devan then speaks further. In terms of demands, he made mention of a demand for the princess, Myrcella, in exchange for Tommen and Lord Tyrell's son, Loras. Ser Kettleback inferred that any princess would do when Lord Tarly denied giving up Princess Myrcella, making mention of one of Oberyn's daughters as a possible alternative.Maybe this will wipe the smug look off of the Queen's face and enrage her. All of this can be confirmed by Lord Tarly, Sire.

Aegon furrowed his brow. "Why would this Holy man scorn me, unless he did not believe my claim?" It was thinly veiled treason, and yet...it could not be treated as such. "Does this High Sparrow trust you, Ser Devan?"
As the rumors of his involvement left Lannister's lips, Aegon could not help but laugh, joined by the titters of Varys and the hearty roar of Jon Connington. "This Kettleblack seems a fool to me, if he would lay this kidnapping at my feet. My fleet was scattered when we landed, and quickly dispersed. Waters is behind this entire crime, or I am a turnip. I will not exchange hostages with a brigand. He can submit himself to my justice and atone for his crimes, or in time he will be brought to justice. Lord Hand," He turned to Jon Connington. "Make this known to the pirate known as Aurane Waters, he can surrender his booty and submit himself to my justice, or he will be rightly named outlaw. If he refuses to turn himself in, I place the bounty of a lordship on his head."

Ser Devan shakes his head.
I do not believe I have any means for the High Sparrow to trust me. After all, he likely views Lannisters all the same due to Cersei.
Just like that Martell Queen and her supporters.
We merely met when Mace Tyrell called together a meeting prior to his departure. Obara Sand and Lord Tarly were present, along with the High Septon. I can try to reason with him if that is your command.
The Lannister explains.
He did mention someway for Tommen to possibly be smuggled out. Given that Aurane Waters commands the seas, I believed that there would be a high chance of failure.
