Walter glances over at Lucas and Lyonel, gesturing in their direction. They will surely hold the walls along with the knights who will be their companions and shields.Lord Whent then finishes his cup, setting it to the side as he refocuses on Brynden. So, think you can beat Lord Tarly? The man may have been grievously injured during the war, but many reported that he was well and ready to joust once more. Brynden grinned devilishly. "In a joust or melee? Absolutely. With that injury he supposedly gained fighting Robert Baratheon he's got a clear weak spot. I wouldn't be as sure if we were facing off with armies, he's got a good mind for such work. After all, he delivered the first blow to Robert's cause."Willas smiled sheepishly, giving Tarly a bow before moving over to speak with his father. Tyrell’s heir was one of those fortunate youths who never grew awkwardly; everything came to him naturally, from sitting on horseback to reading history with the Maesters. “A daughter, fine and healthy.” Mace boasted. “Perhaps a fine match for my new ward. I am to expect Lord Baratheon’s younger brother, or so I am told.”
Scant reward for all the blood spilt and glory won by the House Tyrell, but Lady Olenna had been satisfied with the gesture. Randyll raised an eyebrow. "No news from King's Landing? After all we fought for, one would expect a seat on the small council at the very least."

Mace’s gaze darkened somewhat as he gave a throaty chuckle.
”I am sure the King will summon me when he comes to his senses and has finished grieving. There is only so much use he can get from Westermen, who gamble their loyalty like common merchants.”
It was a subject that Olenna was sensitive too, also, judging by the silent glower she gave to her son from a distance.

Surely, it will be the joust of the center to see the Blackfish and the Lord Tarly joust and duel.Lord Whent would look outside once more now as more gathered. We had best get ready. I suspect the tournament will start soon!Old Whent rises, rubbing his back slightly before motioning to a page. Oi! Get me my armor and make sure it shines!Walter turns to Brynden once more. To you, Ser Tully, may your fortunes be good today.

"Of course. Until then, we'll have to deal with the fallout of the great wildfire ourselves. The amount of refugees are troublesome, to say the least."A topic for another time. "I'll see you in the joust, Lord Mace. Please give my regards to your wife and your venerable wife."Walter looks at Brynden and grins. He had no illusions of his own abilities , but he was not the spry young knight who made a name for himself on the Stepstones. "And to you and your sons as well, Lord Whent. I should get back to my own tent. Gods be with you, Walter."He took his leave and left Lord Whent's tent.

The Herald moves forward on the dais to announce the impending matches between the challengers. Each man had his shielded arms displayed upon the dais, the challengers sitting below the Golden Rose of House Tyrell. After several heats and qualifiers, only a few men remain for the final ten.
Round 1:
Lord Mace Tyrell Vs Ser Garse Flowers: After breaking a lance, Lord Mace unseats his cousin on his second tilt. As a favour to his kinsman he refuses to collect his winnings.
Lord John Peake Vs Lord Randyll Tarly: After several broken lances, Peake finally lands a decent hit on Tarly’s shield. Lord Tarly now has to ransom his arms from Lord Peake, as is tradition.
Lyonel Whent Vs Ser Harwyn Vikary: After several rounds of poor hits and shattered lances, Vikary finally unseats the younger Whent.
Theodore Peake Vs Ser Brynden Tully: A great upset, with Ser Peake unseating the Blackfish with an excellent pass on the second tilt.
Lord Walter Whent Vs Ser Lucas Whent: Lord Whent unseats his son in a single pass, much to the adulation of the crowd.
Remaining contestants: Lord Mace Tyrell Lord John Peake Ser Harwyn Vikary Ser Garth Hightower (NPC) Ser Theodore Peake Lord Walter Whent

Royal JokerJohn's steed galloped alongside the fence, separating himself from Lord Randyll Tarly. It just had to be him for the joust. Their lances met, but it was equally matched. Lance!Lord Peake calls out as he readies for a new joust. Firmly tucking it, Lord Peake gallops back down at full speed, but once more they were of equal match. This only irritated John. LANCE!The third try attempt, only to pass by with neither having fallen. Seven's above... LANCE!!!This fourth time though, a true strike was landed upon Lord Tarly's shield and caused a decent hit to be landed. This was certainly quite the show given how many lances had been broken, but also that Lord John Peake, the recent successor to Starpike, had managed to beat the leading knight and warrior of the Reach. John, raising his visor, looked back at Lord Tarly, seeing his shield on the ground. This was quite unbelievable, even to him. Slowly, John pulls out the favor of Lady Leyla Hightower, which was beneath his armor. Seven above, how had he managed that? ============== It seemed the Faith were with the pair of brothers today. For the next joust, Theomore, thundering down the jousting, managed to break lances with the reputed Blackfish of House Tully before unseating the seasoned warrior on the second tilt. Theomore raised his lance in victory, adoring the cheering crowds. ============== Lyonel Whent falls flat on his back by the more seasoned hand of Ser Vikary. It had taken a handful, but it seemed Lyonel still had much to learn. Harwyn came forth and helped the young Riverlander rise after their joust, showing good sportsmanship among knights. His father, though, managed to unseat his heir quickly. It seemed that Old Walter still had some skill in him left!

Lord Mace Vs Lord Peake: On his first pass, the Lord of Highgarden catches Peake in the chest, knocking him from his horse. Generously the Lord of Highgarden returns Peake his equipment without ransom.
Vikary Vs Hightower: Vikary unseats Garth Greysteel with a fine hit to the gorget. Fortunately, Lady Alerie’s brother is unharmed.
Theodore Peake Vs Lord Whent: Ser Peake ensures his place in the final with a fine strike on Lord Whent’s shield. He is now due a Lord’s ransom.
—-
Mace Vs Vikary: Lord Mace unseats Vikary on the first pass; Vikary’s aim was nowhere near the Lord of Highgarden, and many suspect he deliberately threw the round.
Mace Vs Theodore Peake: The Lord of Highgarden finally wins a tournament, a perfect tilt onto Peake’s shield proving the difference between the two distinguished knights.

His bad leg was aching again, further souring his mood. "PEAKE!"Before he did anything stupid though, Randyll grit his teeth and straightened his back. The walk over felt like a thousand blades striking his leg with every step. He looked up at John Peake with a hard gaze. "Congratulations on your victory. I better see my fellow marcher lord win this tourney. Now, my arms. I'll give you a reasonable price for their return."--- Brynden gracefully congratulated his opponent before returning to his tent to see to his equipment.

Mace performed his victory lap, crowning his own wife the Queen of Love and Beauty as expected. Lady Hightower looks quite enthused, and even Olenna manages a faint smile despite her son's buffoonery. A few days of respite and feasting are ordered before the commencement of the melee.

And now the melee, which leaves only four challengers by the end...
The brothers Peake, who formed an alliance of sorts against lesser opposition, finally face off against each other - after a close tussle, Lord John manages to beat his brother into yielding.
Vikary faces Lucas Whent. Whatever God Ser Harwyn prayed to before the battle, it pays off. The much more seasoned knight disarms Whent with a single blow, knocking him to the floor and forcing the yield. Even Lord Mace stands up to applaud such a masterful performance.
---
Peake and Vikary is a match for the ages. The Westerman starts swiftly, seemingly beating Peake to the floor with a quick flurry of attacks. It seems that Vikary has won for all the world, standing over Lord John. However, the stubborn marcher refuses to yield; he brings Vikary down with him, and after pointing his dagger through the Red Knight's visor manages to convince the other man to lay down his sword.
Lord Peake wins!
