Enemy of Ordlaf has rolled a 2 (spear) and 6 (Strike skill) to Strike Ordlaf. Ordlaf rolled a 3 (Fend skill) and a 4(shield) to Fend off. Ordlaf takes 1 Vigor loss.
Ordlaf strikes back - rolls 4 and 2. Enemy rolls 3 and 6. Ordlaf is unable to damage his opponent but gives no ground. Beside you, Ordlaf repels his own opponent, taking a spear into his leg in the process.
"Cravens! Frisian waerlogas!"
Hengest comes up behind you, brandishing a spear-shaft of his own and jabbing it over you and down upon your foe. Hengest rolls a 1d10 for Strike and a 1d8 for Spear. He rolls a 10 and a 3. Your foe rolls a 8 to Fend it off, so Hengest's spear takes him out for you.
The man screams in pain as your wigfruma (battle-first) stabs the ashen stave deep into his collar; it's only a moment before the dying foe is dragged away like Sigeric before him, giving way to a fresh foeman.
"Switch with me, Guþlaf, let me have a go," you hear Hengest's growling voice over your shoulder. I'm compelling you to stay put, as Guþlaf is "Foolishly Brave". However, you gain a point of Ardor (now you have 3 again) because you endured this aspect.
