A group of knights find Ser Lucion on the road through the Vale and join his party up towards the gates, their presence apparently warding off the threat of the clans for the time being. Upon his arrival, Lannister is led out of the snow and into the old fortress of the Arryn kings, where Lord Nestor waits within holding court on behalf of his liege lord. The Lannister approaches Lord Royce and bows his head. Lord Steward, I thank you for your protection on the road here. Lord Grafton warned me of... Mountain Men.Damned Tywin likely armed these beasts with steel. As Master of Coin, I am here on two errands. One of which is that the debts, taken by Lord Baelish, are hereby taken up by the Iron Throne. His Grace plans to see these debts paid for.Lucion hands a written decree to one of Royce's servants. The second errand, I am here to take possession of the Drearfort and to begin a full investigation of the whereabouts of Lord Baelish's wealth.A second decree is handed over. Do you have any information on the latter of these matters?Nestor Royce's name had been among the promissory notes after all.

"Lord Baelish's treasons were unfortunate. I will offer you whatever assistance you require." Replied Royce, grey haired and regal in his rich robes and the heavy gold portcullis that hung around his neck. "As for the matter of the debts, Lord Baelish acquired the debts of half the lords of the Vale. To simply demand the coin back would cause many noble lines to fall destitute, my lord." Royce shifted uncomfortably on the throne of the Falcon Kings. "I am no coin counter, my lord, and I view the business as below the standing of those of noble blood. I believe much of the money you seek is tied up with the bankers and merchants of Gulltown, but I have no interest in such affairs. Baelish's 'Drearfort' is little more than a watchtower, now under the care of his former steward, Lord Kettleblack. I suspect you will find nothing there save rocks and seagulls, my lord of Lannister."

The matter of Vale's debts will come later. I was sent to do my investigation and see that this message was known.Lannister states before his eyebrow went up. Kettleback, you say? This name was mentioned in the promissory notes, but there were several Kettlebacks in memory. He'd have to re-look at the notes again later. I already have clerks combing through Gulltown's merchants and banks. We have already uncovered some to be nothing but fronts, used to shift coin here and there. The Drearfort was a dismal place from what was learned from Lord Grafton. Still, there might be something there. Seeing as Lord Baelish's lands and money were confiscated, I will see to it that a royal steward is placed in this Drearfort. Something for your Lord Arryn to determine its fate whenever he returns from the Stormlands. In the mean time, whatever is left from his time here, I would like to see Baelish's books.

”Very well, Ser Lannister. You may look at what you will.”
Replied Royce, who motioned to one of his stewards. They scurried off to fetch whatever possessions of Baelish that were left in the Vale.

Ser Lannister resides, for a time, at the Gates of the Moon to review the books left by Lord Baelish. There were some similar writings in comparison to what was found in King's Landing... some confusing ledgers, likely meant to only make sense to the late Littlefinger. In addition to money that went towards an intended purpose, then vanished. Likely in the hands of bankers and merchants in Gulltown. There were trails that led to individuals, likely bribes as well as payments for services. After a few days, the books are gathered and taken back to Gulltown.
