”Granted. But know this, Septon. My realm is of more than one Faith. Worshippers of the Lord of Light shall go unhindered, or else I will hold you personally responsible. I intend to demolish the Dragonpit and erect a temple to the Lord of Light in its place, so that the worshippers of R’hllor might have somewhere to pray.”
The Septon should have made Tommen and his siblings bastards years ago, but the weakling had been too busy begging for scraps at the Lannister table, dining off the fruits of a child king and his inept regents. The King raised an admonishing finger.
”I grant you pardon for supporting the traitor Tommen, but in turn I expect absolute loyalty. There will be no second chances. The Gods do not protect any man from the King’s Justice.”

High Sparrow knew these weren't simple threats. These weren't the threats made by a child or a woman like Cersei Lannister.
I understand, Your Grace. I will ensure word is relayed to the Faith across the Seven Kingdoms of this news and of the Faith Militant being disbanded.
He bows his head to Baratheon before raising it once more.
What shall I do about the knights in my service, Your Grace? I have many to note. Should they return to their homes or request that they become Septons?

”They can join my service or the service of whatever Lord they wish. So long as they do not fight under the banners of the Faith.”
The King retorted, rather relieved that this had all come to pass without so much as an incident.

And with that, the High Septon left.

Later that day, Harrold Arryn brings forth the notable prisoners of the Golden Company, led by the acting Captain-General, Gorys Edoryen, including the former Kingsguard knight, Rolly Duckfield. Tens of them were lined up, in rank and file, chained and knelt, before the victorious King. Gorys was at the front of his Serjeants and Captains. Lord Arryn waves a book before handing it to one of the King's guards.
Your Grace, the significant commanders of the Golden Company and their acting Captain-General are present and ready for your judgment.
Arryn gestures to the knelt prisoners.
There are many notable names, Sire. That book mentions many known Westerosi surnames such as Mandrake, Lothson, Strong, Peake, Mudd, Ball, Shawney, and more.
Houses from across the Seven Kingdoms and names, unknown, from throughout the Free Cities. Harrold indicates the book once more.
Of the remaining ten thousand, my captains counted several thousand assorted Westerosi exiles and Essosi sellswords.
====================
Among the knelt, in their dirtied golden armor, were the cousins, Denys and Duncan Strong. They never imagined this was their fate, given the luck and fortune of Aegon Targaryen. Harry Strickland's death spelled the end of the Golden Company. Aegon's state spelled the end of their war effort. Gorys had been a good acting commander, but the winds had turned against them. Like the others present, their heads were bent and their kneels upon the ground. By the command of Stannis Baratheon, their fate would be named soon enough.

After the High Septon had left, it was time for the Tyrells. Lord Willas led his loyal few into the hall, bowing before the Iron Throne. Little was heard beside Tyrell's cane hitting the stone floor as he walked. His banner was held high behind Willas, while he gripped a sword in his hand. Yet he did not put them down before the Iron Throne just yet.
"Your Grace, I once again come before you to surrender to the King of the Seven Kingdoms. What judgement awaits House Tyrell and the Reach?"

“You will begin by rebuilding the city watch. I name Ser Justin Massey as Lord Commander of the Goldcloaks, and charge you both with seeing that the city is well policed and free of corruption.”Stannis rather dispassionately gestured with a mailed hand to the Crownlander Knight who had served his cause substantially for some time.
“I shall summon you to the Small Council in due time, when we are ready to discuss the business of the realm.” "It will be done, sire." The newly-minted Small Councillor and Commander of the City Watch affirmed, thumping a fist against his mailed chest for emphasis. He gave the Lord Paramount of the Riverlands a glance and a nod - it seemed that, though finally victorious, neither of them would be free to return to their homes just yet.

Like the others present, their heads were bent and their kneels upon the ground. By the command of Stannis Baratheon, their fate would be named soon enough. “Sellswords are a treacherous lot. What and who spurred you to accept the contract for this pretender, a lyseni pillow-boy with no coin to his name?” The King leaned forwards, his shadow ominously looming over the officers of the Company. The eighteen year old boy that led them had wielded Blackfyre, blade of pretenders and sword of the first dragon kings. Stannis somewhat doubted he had won it in battle.

I assume this is your brother, Lord Willas, the same that broke my siege at the Blackwater.”Replied the reproachful Stannis, jaw tightening reflexively as his hands tightened their grip around a more forgiving handhold on the Iron Throne.“If he has come to pay me fealty with all your bannermen, then I shall accept your house back into the King’s Peace, for I do not hold a son to account for his father’s sins. For your house’s disloyalty I will however keep a close kinsman of yours as a ward of my court. If Ser Garlan comes with the sword, I can promise only death and attainder for you both.”
Even as they spoke the King’s men gathered on the north bank of the Blackwater, a show of force to counter the might of the whole Reach.

Morrigens stood with the others, pleased at their many successes. Soon his own Keep would be restored to his possession, along with a seat on the Small Council. Against all odds, the prince that was promised has assumed the throne. Lester spoke up at length. "Your Grace, the throne is yours, but there are still Rebels that need to be dealt with. The Stormlands in particular seem to have lost their way. Allow me to lead an army in your name to retake the keeps from which we ventured forth at the start of this great campaign."

Many present remembered how Viserys begged and pleaded, all the while the mercenaries laughed and mocked at the lesser Targaryen. Gorys didn't know all the details as many secrets had died with the two previous Captain-Generals, Toyne and Strickland. There was one thing he did know though. The man who hired us is dead, Your Grace. Jon Connington was 'is name. Greyscale took him I hear. Claimed the boy was the rightful son of Rhaegar. And Jon Connington likely had more secrets too. The only other with secrets was Varys who had seemingly vanished again.

”You are no subjects of mine, exiles and vagabonds from across the Narrow Sea. I will accept ransom for the lives of your men, Captain, but the price of supporting an enemy of the realm also lies on your shoulders. For you, the sentence is death.”
Decreed the King, not satisfied with the explanation. It seemed whatever the true motivations were to bringing this Pretender to Westeros died with Strickland and Connington.
”Any who cannot pay their own ransom will lose a hand, for such is the price for raising their sword against a rightful king.”

A general murmur rose among the mercenaries with some eyes darting to the golden rings upon their person. One person spoke from among the crowd. He was identified as Ser Laswell Peake, an exiled lord according to the record in the hands of Stannis' men. We have but one way to pay for our lives, Your Grace.Despite the chains, his body makes the golden rings, upon his person, be known. These rings here represent our years of service. I am certain that those, with the right amount, can pay for their lives. The golden rings could likely be melted down and turned into quick coin. There were quite a handful with quite the worldly wealth attached to their person. The words 'lord's ransom' would be a likely label for a number of those present. It was now up to Stannis to determine how many rings was enough to pay for their lives. If these are acceptable, then ransoms can be fulfilled. Not for all unfortunately.

Even as they spoke the King’s men gathered on the north bank of the Blackwater, a show of force to counter the might of the whole Reach. Willas gave Stannis a warm, yet calculating smile. The Reach would not bend so easily."My dear brother Garlan leads this host, I'm sure. No other man in the Reach would be so bold. And he will bend the knee, just as I will. I come with a petition before your Grace, to humbly ask for the return of what was unjustly stolen by the Ironborn. Lady Greyjoy is sworn to you I hear, and I beseech the Iron Throne to have her vacate the Arbor, the Shields and any other castles they have occupied, along with the return of any wealth and prisoners taken in their raids. I must also humbly ask for the safe return of my siblings Loras and Margaery from their captivity in the South."Willas bowed before Stannis, hands resting on his cane. "If it please your Grace to show magnanimity before a defeated foe, so that we may loyally serve you and your house from this point forward. While Garlan was named Lord of Brightwater Keep by Joffrey Rivers, House Tyrell will renounce any such claims in favor of Lord Alekyne Florent."

”It will take many golden rings, Ser. I shall have my steward appraise their worth. The rest can choose a hand or the Wall.”
There would be many new men to defend the Wall from the threats beyond it.
”Now, begone.”
A few guards took the prisoners back to the cells.
—-
”You threaten me with one hand and beg me with another, Lord Willas.”
Stannis bristled like a cornered cat, and replied through gritted teeth.
”Brightwater belongs to my wife’s uncle by right of blood, whatever rewards the usurper Tommen handed out are unlawful and invalid. There is no magnanimity or honour in obeying the law. It is what all men must do, great or small.”
The King gripped his pointed chair with whitened knuckles.
”Restitutions will be made when the Reach comes back into the King’s Peace. As of now your brother and your bannermen are under arms against their rightful king. It is only your grovelling and good sense that have kept me from taking your head for Tyrell treason, Lord Willas. Do not forget that, or I will have you thrown in my dungeons to remind you.”

The rest can choose a hand or the Wall.”There would be many new men to defend the Wall from the threats beyond it. ”Now, begone.”A few guards took the prisoners back to the cells. There were a thousand Serjeants present. Ten rings were removed from each person, resulting in a collection of golden rings that were collected into chests and boxes. It seemed that the Serjeants had enough rings, upon them, to cover this cost for their ransom. This likely meant, however, that the remaining thousands would likely be sent to the Wall. Some may even plead to be allowed to follow their former commanders wherever they went. Yet this was the law of Stannis Baratheon and it had to be obeyed. Later value will be that each ring is worth fifty gold dragons resulting in a net gain of 500,000 for Stannis Baratheon.==================================== A party of Westermen knights arrive, as well as crew of Ironborn riders. The young Martyn Lannister was escorted by them, as well as Ser Lucion Lannister and (likely Barry agrees to come along) Ser Tristifer Botley. They enter the Red Keep and seek an audience with His Grace. Deep within him, Martyn was nervous. He heard the stories of the steeled gaze and iron resolve of Stannis Baratheon. Only Tywin Lannister, his uncle, was said to have matched that personality down to a letter. Still, this wasn't his uncle, but the man who acknowledged his claim and now Martyn must pay homage to. When they were permitted to enter, the two Lannisters would kneel before Stannis. Your Grace.Said Lucion with Martyn following suit. Your Grace.
