"Yes, your grace. Lord Baelish rules the Vale as Lord Protector."
Royce simply stated, unwilling to get caught up in a conversation concerning it.

"Do you come bearing some message form him?" Aegon was beginning to wonder what role Baelish would play in this.

"I come bearing his terms. The Vale wishes to be accepted back into the King's peace. Lord Baelish expects to be confirmed in his current honours as Protector of the Vale for life and Lord of the Trident. Lady Sansa Stark will be granted Winterfell and the North, as is her right as Eddard Stark's heir."
Steep terms, but they were not his. Royce handed over a proclamation drafted by Baelish, awaiting only the King's word and the royal seal.

"These seem more Baelish's terms, not the Vale's terms, Lord Royce. I may be facing a rebellion as soon as I would accept these terms if Hardyng takes issue with them. If Lady Sansa bends the knee, she will of course be confirmed in her lands and titled. It is my understanding she is the only true Stark that has been left alive by this war. I can offer Baelish the Protectorship so long as the lords of the Vale will suffer him, and should they find they are unable to suffer him any longer at any point, he may return to his seat on the Small Council. I see no reason not to confirm his titles as Lord of the Trident." Aegon scratched at the back of his head. "I will also require the KNights of the Vale to fight Stannis, should he not bend the knee."

"I think Lord Baelish will find these terms agreeable."
Whether Royce did or not was not entirely clear, Nestor kept his own emotions closely guarded.
"I can return with your words to the Vale, if it pleases Your Grace."

"If your grandson bends the knee he will be affirmed in his lands, but perhaps not his titles. My Warden of the South must be one I can trust above anyone else. If he wished to retain that traditional honor he will have to earn it. Highgarden will remain the Tyrell's, however, if he does me homage. I will expect the full support of the Reach as a result. No more silliness with Dorne, either. Both Kingdoms will live in th e King's peace." Aegon replied "Your grandson's marriage to Lord Tarly's daughter pleases me. I have no reason to doubt Tarly's loyalty and he seems an astute man." Aegon steepled his fingers. "Margaery Tyrell will remain a guest in Dorne, as an assurance of House Tyrell's loyalty. Unfortunately, her husband is still lost to us and it is unclear if he can be recovered. However, the matter of the Lannisters is a slippery one. I intended to ask the High Sparrow his opinion on the Pretender Tommen and his sister. If the charged against Queen Cersei were true, they are bastards born of incest. Obvious such an arrangement could not stand." "Then I shall return to Highgarden at haste to deliver your demands. My grandson will see reason and bow to the authority of the Iron Throne. For our renewed loyalty, the Reach would request aid with the Ironborn reavers, something the Lannisters were all too pleased to let fester like a gangrenous wound."Olenna gripped her cane harder when Aegon mentioned Tarly's 'loyalty'. The very same loyalty that had killed her son, she presumed. "Since Margaery's marriage to Tommen Baratheon was never consummated, I doubt that the annulment would be much difficult, your Grace. House Tyrell would be most pleased and grateful with ending that engagement. If that was all, I will return home. By your leave, your Grace."With that, she made a courteous bow and left the great hall, preparing her return to the Reach.

A messenger arrives from the Sept of Baelor, the Monk wears rough spun woolen clothing, and wears a brass seven pointed star hanging from a simple rope around his neck.

He is admitted to the Royal presence. Aegon seemed less than amused. "What message do you bring? This High Sparrow refuses my invitation to the Red Keep, it is an insult I do not take lightly."

The man had a serious and plain look about him. He inclined his head slightly. “No offense is intended, surly.” The man replies, his voice temper and sardonic. “I come on behalf of the High Septon, he asks why the King has not come to be anointed before the gods.” Privately the Septon wondered if the Essosi exile even worshipped the Seven.

Aegon narrowed his eyes, as if inquiring if the man was learning impaired. "I am still prosecuting a war, septon." he began. "I invited the High Septon to meet with me in a private audience, his safety ensured, to which he replied that he would not, and you ask why I have not presented myself in front of him absent any invitation or missive besides this communication where you ask why I have not come to the Sept of Baelor?" He arched an eyebrow. "What was I supposed to do exactly?"

The Septon arched his own eyebrow. “With all due respect, Your Grace. The High Septon told your messenger to inform His Grace to meet Him in the Great Sept, as all Kings have before.” He was quiet confused by the implication. “The Voice of the Seven on Earth cannot stray far from his holy duties, but he is appreciative that the city has not been put to the sword, as many others would have it.”

Aegon was not persuaded. "My policies will remain. Indeed, it seems my policies are what have even led to your presence here. No food, drink, or succour will reach those areas of King's Landing occupied by the faith militant until the High Septon comes to me. As I have said before, his safety is gauranteed and he shall meet with me in private audience. If the Faith continues to oppose my rule in the city, well, I cannot leave an enemy at my back." Aegon was stern. "Do not over-extend yourself. The King and the Faith: these are twin pillars of the Realm. Yet the High Septon seems hell bent on ignoring the Crown. I can only assume this means the Faith supports Tommen. If this is true, we have additional problems."

The monk gasped. “You intend to cut off the Great Sept of Baelor?” He questioned. “Your Grace, that is outrageous. Whoever was sent to act on your behalf has not yet done such a thing, but that would be an act against the gods themselves.” It seemed the King would wage a war against the Faith in edition to his war against Stannis. “The High Septon serves no man, the boy “King” Tommen and the Demon worshiper Stannis least among them.”

Aegon gave a laugh. "If I wanted to destroy the faith militant, I could." He concluded. "The Great Sept of Baelor is cut off. Those are my orders." Aegon descended the throne. The Kingsguard moved to support him. Aegon grabbed the Septon by the neck. "Why do you rebel?" Aegon inquired. He squeezed, almost suffocating the man.
