"Salve"
Cinna greeted his fellow legate and friend whom he fought with so closely in Asia. "Glad to see you again in Rome after the war against the Pontic menace" Caesar smiles at his old brother in arms. "Salve, Cinna! The same, the same, how joyous to see you in my abode in one piece. I hope your welcome back in Rome was as uneventful as my own. The rumors have not been kind to the mother city during our absence." Stories varied greatly depending on person and the time of day. Some spoke of street gangs brawling, others of Saturninus reborn to lead the mob to victory against the hated optimates. Caesar guessed the truth was less impressive, but no less interesting.

"Certainly, things proved to be rather interesting during our absence"
Said Cinna, who smiled mightily. From what he knew is that the populare faction had no real military man behind them. Cinna didn't count lepidus as a populare yet, he was too unpredicatble.
"Regardless of politics i find myself a bachelor still and i heard the widow of Marius is still free, your sister".

"Regardless of politics i find myself a bachelor still and i heard the widow of Marius is still free, your sister". Caesar gave Cinna a look, contemplating the proposal. "Julia? Certainly, after Marius' untimely demise she has remained a widow for a few years. A bit too long perhaps, but she's focused on raising Little Gaius in the image of his late father, you see. He's a strapping young lad, no doubt to make headway in the Senate." There was a pause for ponderance. "I love my sister dearly and I'd hate to force her into an unwanted marriage, you understand. There's something about widows, they know how to argue. But... tell you what, she loves her son, and if Little Gaius found a father in your house, I should be able to convince her. Also, a written promise that at least half the dowry be reserved for the boy once he enters adulthood."

"The son of Marius will be raised well of course, he is the son of he who defeated the Germanic invaders after all"
Long ago, Cinna had fought under the Command Marius against the Iugurthine uprising and the barbarian invaders.
"I have no qualms about any of this, you see"
Conceded Cinna, finally glad to actually marry.

Barbatus is welcomed by Caesar, who is currently entertaining a few guests, personal clients of the Julii in Rome and among the Italian cities. Lucius took a moment to let Caesar finish with what he was doing before approaching the Julii. Salve, Julius. The Roman waves to his colleague. His eyes had noticed Italian clients were present earlier. Busy as ever it seems. We, Populists, never seem to have a quiet moment.

A small toast, to a happy marriage." Lucius took a moment to let Caesar finish with what he was doing before approaching the Julii. Salve, Julius. The Roman waves to his colleague. We, Populists, never seem to have a quiet moment.Caesar noticed his newly arrived guest and excused himself before approaching Barbatus, offering his hand in greeting. "Salve, Atilius. Yes indeed, our cause has been pushed back so far these past years we have to work double the time to make up our losses. But such is our toll and I shall only complain moderately." A slave brought some refreshments for the two senators, Caesar taking a plentiful swig before continuing. "Hopefully our current weakness will give the optimates time to notice how much they dislike each other, instead of finishing us off. Lepidus and Sulla are not on friendly terms from what I can tell, and Mugillanus really stabbed himself in the foot in Greece."

Said Cinna, who gladly shared the wine with his brother. Soon they would indulge in more pleasanties before Cinna would eventually retire.

Cinna and Julia with Marius the younger arrive to Caesar's home in a hurry, after the fire. They seemed to be distraught Caesar's home, located near the Forum Romanum in the valley between the Palatine and Capitoline hills, had thankfully been spared the raging fire. Guards were posted at the gates and were initially suspicious of the new arrivals, though a quick berating from the master of the house quickly rectified the issue. Caesar invited Cinna and his family, slaves bringing whatever were asked. Aurelia joined her husband's side, while the couple's three children watched their guests from afar. "Cinna, Julia! By Jove, how are you? Are you hurt, should I call for a healer? What about your home, were you hit by the fire?" Considering how many prominent senators lived on the Palatine, he doubted many were spared the flames. "I can scarcely believe it, I first thought that Helios had risen early when I saw the light... how could this happen?"

Caesar's nephew, the late Gaius Marius' puer, stood a little ways behind his mother - off to the side. A slave stood next to him, already whispering with one of Caesar's household slaves. A trusted Greek slave by the name of Otus that had served the boy's father. After a moment, the slaves led the boy down another corridor in the domus, finding him a place to return to his slumber - the very same room the boy lived in until very recently, when his mother remarried.

"But we are in good health i believe besides a rough cough. I hope we will know soon enough"Julia and her son, Gaius Marius, would then go to their former rooms that they occupied for so long.

Caesar nods before motioning for Cinna and his family to make themselves comfortable. Slaves are ordered to prepare rooms for the new guests and take care of their meagre belongings. "Praise the gods for that, at least. Sometimes we cannot ask for more. This is a major tragedy though, and I suspect we'll be quite busy the coming months. You are welcome to stay as long as you like, of course. Family is family, and it would be no good to turn away relatives in need."
