"Well, Gauis, " Valerius replied " Having not been in Asia myself, I can't answer your questions." With his curiosity peeked however, he wanted to know more. "I know you're family had some run in with Crassus a while back, and Im sure you'd like a little payback. I would suggest you send some agents to Asia to talk to our allies and find some witnesses to testify against Crassus. It is probably a little too destabilized for you to go yourself, but a Roman Senator can have a calming influence, however that might attract more attention than you wish." Valerius commented.

"I agree, we would need witnesses and evidence to strengthen any case against Crassus"
Decianus said.
"If true what i fear then Crassus has violated our sacred assemblies as only the centuriate assembly is capable of declaring war on a foreign state"
Decianus said, having done his research on the matter, now was the time to act on it. Revenge motivated to press on the matter.
"I do not want to see a Roman soldier die because of the whims of a single man"

"Perhaps he did, " Lucius warned,"but Proconsuls do have the ability to defend their provinces if they feel it is necessary, there have been too many precedents for just an offensive move to be enough to convict him at trial." "If he loses, then his public disgrace might be enough for you, but it will also allow you to prosecute him easier." "But you will still need more evidence."

On one particular day in Roma, Valerius finds a throng of slaves hauling a cumbersome package up the Palatine, a cart drawn by two strong horses. They claim it has come all the way from Crete, on the authority of Pro-Consul Sulla. On further inspection, there seems to be several carts hauling several packages. Several plundered statues are deposited at the house of Valerius, including a large marble model of the fabled Minotaur of legend, paired with a statue of the heroic looking Theseus, its mortal enemy. The crowning glory of all of these choice gifts, of course, was an ancient Minoan fresco, "acquired" by Sulla during his conquest of Knossos from the house of the local tyrant. Wrapped in several layers of cloth to preserve it, it is an ancient work, even to the old Greeks. It comes with the Pro-Consul's regards and wishes of continued friendship while he campaigns in Asia.

Valerius welcomes the porters into his house directing them over several hours on where to place the statues. He changes their position numerous times before he is satisfied (for now) with where they are. The mural painting he puts in his private bedroom, not wanting to risk it to the open air of the atrium. Over the next few days he spends hours inspecting them intricately. Pouring over every detail, memorizing each feature of their craftsmanship. At night he would take out the fortified wine, and spend time sitting on the floor in the middle of his collection, drinking away, orders for all , including family to stay away as he admired his statues. The delicacy of the bull jumpers were especially invigorating. Their lithe , slender , yet athletic bodies were entrancing.
He needed more.
