Tribune Saturninus visits his co-tribune. (after the senate session and when he rallied the people in the forum) The tribune is invited in by a slave at the door, being led to the master's work office. Vitulus hunched over a few scrolls at his desk. He looked up, haggard eyes gazing at Saturninus, smiling. "My friend, welcome! I've heard you've abandoned all pretense of self-preservation and begun rallying the masses at the forum. What now, will you raise an army of the poor and march on the Capitoline Hill?" While the tone was jovial, there was both fear and determination in the tribune's eyes. He had begun to realize that he had tied his horse to Saturininus's long ago, and perhaps he needed to see it to the very end. May the people remember his name, he prayed in silence. "So... what next?"

Saturninus looked as if he was shaken by recent events, though a certain look of determination could be read in his eye's.
"I had not expected the senate to declare war on the Roman people......"
And for what? Was it such a great crime that he wanted to help the roman poor?
"I am sorry to have you dragged all in this...., you have been a good ally and friend to me....."
Saturninus sounded emotional even. For in his mind he was about the begin the endgame, and it would bring either total victory or death.

A missive arrives for Tribune Vitulus, borne from Asia by ship.

Vitulus waved his hand, dismissing the apology.
"Don't pity me, Saturninus. Despite everything, I supported you every step of the way. We are in this together, come what may. Speaking of which..."
Rummaging through the documents on his desk, Vitulus finally pulled out one on the histories of the Plebeian Tribunes.
"After the mess at the Senate, I went to the library to seek out the wisdom of our predecessors for a solution to our problems. 200 years ago, the Lex Hortensia was passed, making all laws passed by the Plebeian Council binding for all Roman citizens. However, it was the last time a secessio plebis was implemented - the plebeians of Rome leaving the city in protest until their demands have been met."
Vitulus looked to his friend once more.
"I don't know what plans you have in store, but perhaps this could be used to our advantage."

"That is it"
It was certainly something much less lethal than what had crossed his mind, to have the senate be besieged untill all demands were met.
"Agreed, with the pressure of an empty city they will have no choice other than to comply with the wishes of the people"
Saturninus added, now much more confident than when he entered the domus.
"I have sent messengers to the Coloniae to inform them of the latest developments as well"
They owed their allegiance to Saturninus and Vitulus.

"Hopefully we'll find vigilant supporters to aid our cause among them, Saturninus. Also, if we are able to rally enough of the plebeian citizens for a secession, we could potentially block off the roads and requisition any supplies going to the city."
Vitulus shot a smirk at his compatriot.
"With any luck, we could entice more citizens to join the secession with the promise of bread. Let the old goats in the Senate starve."

Saturninus smiled, Vitulus seemed to be a genius, always coming up with new ideas to the cause.
"That will surely frighten the old men in the Senate, they shall know that they can not simply ignore the will of the people at no cost"
Then an idea popped up in Saturninus' mind. Born from the momentum.
"We could host games and then at the end of the games we should announce the secession"
The people always loved games. In times of crisis or not.
"Meanwhile you should veto all decree's and laws in the senate untill this happens"

Vitulus nodded in agreement.
"Games are always a good way to draw in as many people in this city as possible, perfect for announcing the secession."
It would cost them a pretty penny, to be sure. It would be worth it, in the end - some pennies for ripping the carpet out from under the Optimates.
"We shall see if they let me into the Senate, I left the chambers not long after you stormed out. I shall try my best, though."

"Very good, i thank you not only as an ally but also as a friend"
Saturninus offered his hand to shake, as a gesture of friendship
"For the Roman people"

Pius made the painstaking process of sending officials to each temple associated with the Mamulii on behalf of the Roman state to collect the funds that the family had stored away, as was traditionally done. All of his farms, city assets, and other belongings were seized to be put up for auction to other wealthy prospectors. It was a vast fortune, all told, with even the man's palatine mansion being taken as part of the spoils. Sadly, it would leave the young Marcus destitute and penniless, but, that was life. Like the Regulans, he would have to grow up with the stigma of being a poor traitor's son. Once all the treasure was amassed, Pius would present it to the Senate, as was customary, for the appropriation of the funds.
