“I already yielded to Goodbrother, Reader. He promised me ships and men and a castle of mine own, as well as one of his daughters.” Replied Half-Hoare, who was warlike and savage but certainly held more wits than one might expect. He was no Victarion Greyjoy. “If the Greyjoy woman can give me more, I might turn to support her. But Goodbrother is a generous man. Might be that he’d reward you and her too if you submit to him.” "I see"Said Rodrik. "Well, if you want a castle, that I can give. I offer you this, the hand of mine cousin's daughter, Betha Harlaw. Once Hotho dies you shall be a lord in Harlaw and will have a keep, the Tower of Glimmering. And you know my isle is fairly wealthy, you shall have serfs a plenty, retainers and your own longhall"
He smiled. "I will have you as master of a castle and a lord bannerman on your own"Betha was also third in line to inherit Harlaw, if Asha was to keep the Iron Isles and Pyke and Harras were to die without offspring. "To sweeten the deal I shall have you as one of the captains of my longboats and a man of note among my men and if Goodbrother offered you coin, I can beat him on it"

The Ironborn shifted in his seat. It was a generous offer.
“Done. I will back Greyjoy in the Kingsmoot. Drowned God help us all.”
Half-Hoare grinned, then sunk a horn of ale. He stood, and extended his hand.
“We shall shake on it, reader. And then I will speak for the woman on the morrow.”

"I shall see you on the morrow and the days to come, to receive your oaths as my kinsman, retainer and vassal"Harlaw didn't care what Hotho would say about this, he would have to pledge his daughter or lose his tower and his daughter both, Rodrik was rather fatigued of his squabbling cousins. That said and done the Reader left with kin and sworn swords, hoping it would be enough to sway the crowd in the Kingsmoot.

Asha was furious at the tie that had been reached with Gorold Goodbrother. He had been a loyal sword of her father, the great Balon, and now he dared challenge the Great Kraken's daughter and heir? It took every fiber of her being to stop her from putting an ax in his head.
Asha gathered her supporters in a long hall on Old Wyk to celebrate her return to the Isles. Mead and meat flowed, songs echoed off the walls while the Ironborn entertained themselves with dances and games. Asha sat in her chair, barely touching her drink. She stared into the dark brew as she swirled the drink around, trying to gaze the future in its depths. Her moment of triumph seemed so far away, and the obstacle loomed large over her.
She could not simply kill Goodbrother and be done with it, no matter how much she wished it was so. Yet she had no intention of bending her knee and kissing his boots for that matter. She needed her cunning for this, and she had a good idea of what the Goodbrother would accept to step down from his candidacy. The very idea left a bad taste in her mouth, which no beverage could drown.
Later, Asha sought out Lord Gorold Goodbrother for private talks.

With Half-Hoare out of the way, the balance would be slightly swung into Greyjoy’s favour. Once Gorold got news of the loss, he publicly left for Great Wyk the next day before all the assembled lords. Asha was ruler of the islands, for good or for ill.
